The Yummiest Sugar Cookies

A final layout showcasing the Prima Marketing Inc., Sugar Cookies Christmas Collection Scrap Shotz sent me to play with this month!

Over the last couple of weeks, I have shared four 12x12 layouts using this collection, a couple of cute ones and a couple of pretty ones. The pinks and florals and retro Santas and crystals of this collection have made it so versatile. Easy to scrapbook everything from cozy photos of the puppy to beautiful photos of my family, and now a photo of me and my sister sipping yummy Starbucks lattes.

I didn't have too much left of the kit to play with but that's no problem! I ripped the scraps of pattern paper into 12 inch long strips and layered these messily along the bottom. Keeping the design to about a 1/4 or less of the page as an anchor for my photo.

I didn't want so much white space to show on my background though so used a Kaisercraft Snowflake stamp) from a past Scrap Shotz kit) and some Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Frayed Burlap and Victorian Velvet to stamp the background. I focused on stamping about the same width of the page as my layered pattern papers. I still wanted some white space but too, too much.

Hmm, I felt like I still needed a little pop of something - so reached into my stash of alphas and found these great gold words to scatter among the snowflakes. As if they were part of the background; like a snowflake and gold pattern paper!

Instead of using one 4x6 of this photo, I decided to print it 4 times in 2x3 and repeat the same image across the page like a film strip. To add a little something, I grabbed a small scrap of gold glitter paper and popped up one of the photos - the one there with the 'hello' and florals - as a sort of focal point.

From there I added a few .. ok a lot .. of the Picket Fence, Moonshine Sequins for a little texture and shine. And voila! I love how this layout turned out.

If you are playing with Prima Marketing Inc, Sugar Cookies we would love to see. Tag us on social media so we can ooh and ahh.

The Prettiest Sugar Cookies

I am wrapping up my 2020 December scrapbooking with the prettiest Christmas collection I have ever had the pleasure to get these scrappy hands on. No jokes folks! Scrap Shotz sent me the Prima Marketing Inc, Sugar Cookie Christmas Collection and it is as pretty as it gets - all pinks and crystals and paper florals and touches of gold and just so, so pretty.

So pretty, in fact, I completely forgot to pause and film an unboxing for you all - apologies! I sat down with a warm beverage and got right to playing with all the beautiful bits and pieces.

For my first layout, I started with a white background which I fancied up with some Tim Holtz, Distress Inks in Frayed Burlap and Victorian Velvet and snowflake stamps. The Snowflake stamp is from the Kaiser Craft, Let it Snow Collection Scrap Shotz sent me last year to play with! Sometimes I stamped fresh from a re-inking and other times I stamped 2 or three times without re-inking to give a little dimension and different shades of colour.

I ripped the Sugar Sweet Christmas pattern paper from the collection to create a pattern across the middle of my page and tucked in some ripped vellum and cardstock (Bazzil in the colour Fawn) in behind. This design idea gives the eye an anchor for my photo and all the embellishments.

From there it was all the fun of embellishing using the collection goodies - paper florals, ephemera tucked in and around the photo. Then I used the collection's "Say it in Crystals" and some Moonshine sequins from Picket Fence Studios (included in my package fro Scrap Shotz) to create a confetti look wherever I stamped the snowflakes. I wanted it to look like it was snowing pretty down the page!

For my second layout, I wanted to focus on the pattern paper of the collection. Splitting my page in two I selected a more neutral pattern for the bottom half and then used 4 different patterns to create an angled design for the top half. I really like how this design showcases 5 of the patters without looking too busy and leaves me lots of pattern paper left over for other layouts too.

With the middle of my page as my focal point, I added a few layers of tissue paper from my stash (tissue really softens busy patterns behind it and feels Christmas-y to me). I used 2 photos this time and lots of ephemera. Simple cluster and tuck and layer and tilt here and there method. The Santas were so pretty they had to be included and of course who can resist adding some Primar paper florals. The final touch was a few of those "Say it in Crystals" in and about the layering.

A couple of touches I kept consistent across both layouts:

  • white splatters to give the impression of falling snow. I have simple bright white Acrylic paint that I add a spritz of water too and then just splatter all messy like. Use a wee baby paintbrush for whispy snow or a bigger paintbrush (maybe the width of a fingernail, for a blizzard.
  • chose photos that looked good in black and white or were quite dark - something about the simple colour of the photos and that gorgeous pink of the Prima collection makes me happy.
  • used a gold title, from Heid Swapp, from my stash. I love that the titles are simple, have a  feminine that matches the collection and plays on the sparkle of the Prima crystals and florals too
I am off to make more layouts with this pretty collection. Scrapbooking and binge-watching Big Bang Theory are my New Year Plans. I would say Happy New Year to you all but rather let's go with Happy Goodbye 2020. wink, wink

Cheers!

Good Vibes Layout with Kate & Ash

Hello friends! Karla back again with one more layout using the awesome Simple Stories Kate & Ash Collection! So far I've created a breakfast in bed double page layout, a fun selphy layout and now today I'm sharing an outdoor fun layout! This collection seriously has lots of creative options for many different themes.

I focused on using the florals and feathers on this page and embellished using the coordinating Bits & Pieces ephemera, Chipboard Cardstock Stickers, Decorative Brads and stickers from the 12x12 Sticker Sheet that is included in the 12x12 Collection Pack.

I used a sketch for my page design using one of Jennifer Edwardson's Use Your Own Paper sketches, which always come in handy! I cut one of the journaling cards from the 4x6 cut apart sheet to be smaller and wrote my journaling in. Some of these adorable Garden Party Sprinkletz flowers were also perfect to add to the page!

I fussy cut the rainbow and the words Choose Happy from one of the 4x4 cut apart sheets. There are so many cute images that you can either use on the journaling cards or by cutting them out!

Wild Whisper Strength Of The Season Layout

Hello friends! Karla back today with a layout I shared on the Wild Whisper Blog using the beautiful Strength Of The Season collection, available in the Scrap Shotz Store! I love that this collection has elements to scrap any season - literally or figuratively! The sentiments and images are beautiful and you can't go wrong grabbing these goodies for a crop or scrapbook day!

I decided to scrap a fall day where my youngest was still in shorts, enjoying the last of the summer weather. I love that I was able to combine summer and fall elements from this line. The papers are so beautiful, and if you haven't had the opportunity to scrap with them, you're going to love the thick, sturdy weight.

I added some stamping directly on my page with the coordinating Strength Of The Season Stamp Set. I will definitely be using this for cards and scrapbooking! I even stamped the cute bee stamp, coloured in a bit of yellow and fussy cut it to add to my page as an embellishment. You can check out the stamped and coloured sunflower and acorns in the first photo above too!

There are beautiful sentiments and images in the Ephemera Pack and I layered them along with the coordinating Sequin Mix to finish embellishing the page. These sequins are going to be my go-to for spring projects too!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to head over to the shop to check out the Strength Of The Season collection - you'll love it!! Have an amazing week friends!

How To Layer Your Scrapbooking Elements using Doodlebug Design & Video

Hello! Karla back again today with two more layouts using the adorable Doodlebug Design Winter Wonderland collection, the Marvy Snow Marker and the Wild Whisper Strength Of The Season Sequins. Sometimes it's hard to figure out how to incorporate several different designs of papers as well as all those cute stickers and ephemera, but if you take it step by step it really isn't hard at all! I've made a video, linked below, where you can see the process I use to layer up all these fun elements - AND show you how easy it is to use the awesome Snow Marker!

In the first layout you can see how I use various patterned papers - with a base of white cardstock. The green paper with white snow and the sweater print paper are both a more subtle pattern and let the moose border and SNOW cards shine!

I added some Distress Oxide Ink around the edges of some of the elements to give them a slight shadow. The Floral Spice Thickers complete my title. PS They are on sale!!

I layered on sticker words on top of the 3x4 card from the cut apart sheet and the pink snowflake, and then even added a few more pops of colour with the sequin mix.

I glued down the cute moose from the Odds & Ends pack and then popped up the Love This sticker from the 12x12 sticker sheet using foam tape. A tiny heart sticker from the cardstock sticker sheets is then added on top of that!

For the next layout I added in some mixed media in coordinating colours using Distress Oxide Sprays. You can see how this layout comes together in the video below!

Don't forget you can unscrew the Distress Oxide Sprays and use the nozzle for a more direct splatter effect. I also used some plastic packaging and did a smooshing technique for the background layer.

The Marvy Snow Marker is really fun to use and creates highlights, texture and dimension. The key is to let it dry slightly after applying and then carefully heat while keeping your heat gun moving. You can easily add a second layer for even more snowy goodness!

I had so much fun layering and adding pops of colour on this layout!!

Here's a look at the VIDEO where you can see just how I put this layout together!

NEW Wild Whisper & Nicole Wright Designs - Media Assemblage Home Decor Inspiration!

Hello friends! Karla back again with a look at the gorgeous Media Assemblage paper line from Nicole Wright and Wild Whisper. Oh My Goodness... this line is AMAZING! Seriously, if you love mixed media - it's for you... if you love the look, but not the mess - it's for you... if you just love gorgeous paper - you guessed it - it's for you! But seriously, this paper is awesome. I recently shared three home decor ideas for Wild Whisper so I wanted to share them here since they are now in the Scrap Shotz Store!

To create some pretty wall art, I grabbed a couple dollar store frames and simply added the gorgeous paper inside. Next, I used some of the Strength of the Season cut files from the Wild Whisper Shop and used my Cricut Maker to cut them using Adhesive Foil. Check out the video linked below to see just how easy this was!

I really love these papers - think of how lovely this idea would be for teacher gifts, birthdays... And who wouldn't think this took you hours?!!

Love this quote - again one of the cut files from Wild Whisper that coordinates with the Strength Of The Season collection!

Lastly, I decided to cover some cardboard magazine holders with another sheet of the beautiful paper. After cutting the strips to fit the width I added some Wild Whisper Strength of the Season ephemera diecuts and a few sequins from Strength of the Season and the Masculine collections.

I can totally see using this paper to cover even more things - maybe even coordinate my albums...

You can pick up the 6 pack or the double 12 pack and each package comes with one beautiful bonus sheet!
To get a closeup of each of these papers, as well as the bonus sheet, and see how I put the wall art together - be sure to check out the video below.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a  really awesome week my friends - stay crafty!!

NEW Wild Whisper Masculine Collection - Scrapbook Layout Idea

Hello friends! Karla back today with a layout I created for Wild Whisper using the fabulous NEW Wild Whisper Designs Masculine Collection. Let me tell you, even if you don't have a guy in your life - you're going to want these gorgeous papers!! The colours and textured look of these 12x12 cardstock papers are amazing.... I wanted to create a layout about a card my husband and his mom have sent back and forth for each of their birthdays since 1983, and I just love how these papers worked together to document this special tradition.

I used a patterned paper background that looks like a wooden frame with a fabric insert. I decided to play on that by 'tacking' up the photos of the card with tack diecuts, cut out with my Cricut, adding a jar of Peanut Butter and a cute peanut, as well as the titles - all cut with the Cricut from the Wild Whisper papers. 'The Peanut Card' and 'EST 1983' are cut with Nicole Wright's new Media Assemblage papers, which are amazing! The Wild Whisper Papers work beautifully for diecuts.

Here, I used a mini frame from one of the cut apart pages and added my journaling inside it!

I even used the branding strips, cutting them into washi tape strip pieces. The sequins in this collection are definitely delicious, and you're going to find lots of uses for them!

Here's a look at this amazing collection-

Back To School Teacher Card

Hello! It's Karla back today to share a cute teacher card for back to school. We have had a fabulous summer vacation, but I think we are all just a bit excited about heading back for another year and getting back to a routine. My girls of course want to bring cards for their new teachers, so I grabbed a few different stamp and die sets and combined them for a cute card with a fun mixed media background.

I started off by colouring in the Hello Bluebird Just Sayin' animals with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. They blended nicely on Bristol Cardstock stamped in Gina K Amalgam Ink. This is truly my favourite stamping ink! It can be used with Copics or watercolours like the Zig Markers.

I added the 'yay' and 'hello' sentiments from the Hello Bluebird set along with 'god bless you' from the Mama Elephant Mini Everyday Messages stamp set in the little signs the cute critters are holding. The 'Many Thanks' sentiment came from the Lawn Fawn So Owlsome stamp set. I just love how fun this card was by combining the stamps I had in my stash!

The background piece was something from my craft drawer from a day I'd been playing with some watercolour mediums and my craft mat. It worked perfectly to layer being a stitched window diecut as a base for this fun, bright card.

Inside, I used a sentiment from another school stamp from Studio Katia and coloured in the tiny ruler.

The crayons were just perfect for this card, and came in the Hello Bluebird stamp set along with the little scissors. I added Glossy Accents to the crayons and used some white gel pen to add highlights. And, of course, all teachers love gold stars, so I found three to add just a bit of bling!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope this has given you some inspiration to pull out different stamp sets and see how fun they can work together. Don't forget to check what's new in the Scrap Shotz Store, and have a very happy, very crafty week!
