Scrap Shotz Gives Back: Going Green Early Bird Challenge

Did you know that this Sunday is Earth Day? In honor of our beautiful blue (and green) planet, Scrap Shotz has decided to support Evergreen Canada for this crop's SSZ Gives Back Challenge!

Evergreen's mission is to bring communities and nature together for the benefit of both.

Evergreen envisions a sustainable society where individuals live in harmony with and contribute meaningfully to their local environment. Evergreen will be at the forefront of the movement to create this society, by empowering communities, by creating innovative resources and by transforming educational values.

To find out more about this worthy cause, please visit their website here:

So... let's go green everyone!  The challenge is just that, create something, anything, with green being a dominant color in the final result.  For each person that participates, Scrap Shotz will donate $5 to Evergreen Canada and help make a difference to our Earth Day cause.

Once you've posted your Green project, go ahead and grab this blinkie! --->

Let me see some green :-)

Fabulous Fundamental: Matching Borders

Are you in love with all the different border punch designs available? I know I am!

Recently I created a 2 page layout where I wanted my border to flow from the first page to the second page with the design flowing freely from the first page to the second. And guess what? It is so easy to do!

Let me share it with you here.

First, you will need the joining paper strips and the border punch of your choice. In the picture below, I am using the EK Success border punch that cuts and embosses the design.

Then stack the strips with one strip facing right side up and the other with the back side up. Line the stack of paper up in the middle of the design. Refer to my picture below. (It is important to line the paper strips in the middle of the design as it will make piecing the strips together easier.)

Finish punching the rest of the strip.

Flip the wrong side strip over and piece with the right side strip. Voila! Now the strips line up beautifully and will flow perfectly from the first page to the second page. (Note that I purposely have 2 different sides on my strips for demonstration purposes only.)

Hope you like my tip!

The April Scrap Shotz monthly kit is divine! It features the Be You line from Fancy Pants. The kit includes all 12 pattern papers, 8 cardstock, rub ons, stamp, chipboard and alpha stickers. Also included is the new DIY American Craft thickers with their yummy black glitter, BasicGrey wooden buttons and a roll of the uber popular Queen and Co Trendy Tape. There are also mouth-watering add ons in the store too!

We have a lovely layout from Gail. This kit creates a stunning, fresh layout for baby pictures; don't you agree?

Lorraine also created a baby layout showcasing the delicious rub ons from the kit and a few other pattern papers. Beautiful, yes?

How about this fantastic layout from Wendy? I love how she used the pattern papers in the kit. Isn't that ribbon flower fantastic?

Check out Rosie's sweet project. I love the rub ons Rosie placed directly on the photo - simple and striking.

Check out the layout Jen created showcasing one of the hottest patterns, the chevron, on her layout. Don't you love that divine banner??

I think you will agree this kit is gorgeous and versatile.
