Scrapping with Scraps!

One of my all time favorite collections for spring and summer photos if by Echo Park. I have used as close to 100% of this kit as I possibly could. The colours are so versatile; the patterns are awesome and the die cut stickers are perfect for everything! So I set about to create a layout with my remnants.

Below is my scrappy layout! Also in my leftover bin were these adorable chipboard star fish by Cosmo Cricket and some die cut fishes from another Echo Park collection. I think you will agree everything coordinates perfectly!

Supplies:  Bazzill (cardstock); Echo Park (pattern paper, die cut stickers, alphas); Fiskars (cloud punch); Spellbinders dies; Cosmo Cricket (chipboard accents); American Crafts (pen for faux stitching); EK Success (border punch); Queen & Co (pearls)

Fabulous Find: Mr. Huey

Scrap Shotz carries alot of different mists, all of which I love and use frequently. One of the newest sprays Sandy is carrying is Studio Calico's Mr. Huey mists. Have you tried them???

Want to know what I love about Mr. Huey??? Well, the colours are dynamite and very different from anything else on the market. The finish is matte like, not shimmery like Tattered Angels glimmer mists, has a nice coverage from its nozzle head, is very easy to apply (no clogged heads thus far!) and my paper is not super wrinkly.

Here is a layout I created using Studio Calico Mr. Huey for the flower accents.

Supplies:  Collage Press (pattern papers); Pink Paislee (butterfly); Sizzix (flower die); Imaginesce (petal roller); Prima (pearls); Studio Calico (Mr. Huey mists); Tattered Angels (glimmer mist, chalkboard mist); Prima (alphas); EK Success (circle punch); WRMK (chomper); Hemptique (hemp)

Have your tried Mr. Huey? What do you think?

Do You Like Colour???

It is no secret that I love colour but have you ever wondered what the impact colour or lack thereof has on your projects??

For me, I like the "emotions" I feel when I see bold and vibrant colours; in fact, they make me feel happy, light and joyful. With muted subtle colours I tend to complement my photos but not emphatically draw attention to my photos. Colours for me is an easy way to enhance my projects.

For example, here is a layout using bold and vibrant colours of my water loving daughter!

Supplies:  Bazzill (cardstock); Echo Park (pattern paper, die cut stickers); American Crafts (alphas); Queen & Co (pearls); Cosmo Cricket (chipboard accents); Fiskars banner punch

Notice how different you feel when I create a layout using muted subtlely patterned papers with this layout.

Supplies:  Graphic 45 (pattern papers, die cuts, alphas); American Crafts (pen for journaling)

What do you think of colour? Do you like colour?? I'd love to hear.

Simply Smashing!

I am completely and utterly smitten with smash books. I love everything about smash books, from the concept to the cool and funky accessories that accompany these gems! When smash books first hit the market, I whipped up 2 of the standard sized books but I knew all along I wanted smash books for my girls to put together...because they seem to save alot of ... ummm... treasures! When K&Co came out with the smaller sized mini folios, I knew it was perfect for my girls.

Here is a smash book I prepared for my youngest. It will be filled with details from our upcoming trip which she will share with her class upon return. Plus, it is the perfect size for her little hands!

For the cover, I sprayed some Tattered Angels glimmer mist with a Prima compass template. Then I adorned the corner with some American Crafts alphas and Little Yellow Bicycle travel themed embossed stickers from an older Scrap Shotz monthly kit.

The K&Co fabric tabs have Cosmo Cricket mini alphas defining each section. Throughout my album, I took the opportunity to use up all the travel themed rub on and sticker remnants I had been saving...for a long long time...

One of my favorite K&Co smash items are the various patterned tapes used to attach the journaling notes, stickers and soon to accumulate memorabilia from our trip. The black and white polka dots are my favorite but there are so many more to choose from in the store!!!

Throughout the book, I used mini alphas primarily from Glitz Designs and Cosmo Cricket. There are fun rub ons from Fancy Pants, Autumn Leaves and Little Yellow Bicycle.

I can hardly wait to fill these wonderful plastic "zip loc" baggies that are held in my smash book with the coolest magnetic clip. The paper flag tab and clip are fabulous markers within the album.

These pages are ready for my munchkin to fill in with the dual sided pen and glue stick.

Throughout the album, I added mini folders (that have been in my stash for years!!!!) With a few left over dimensional stickers from Little Yellow Bicycle, the folder looks totally hip and happening! Don't you agree???

The next few pages showcase the various journaling notepads from K&Co. I love each and every one of them :-)

These mini envelopes are perfect for the mini folios. A few rub ons and voila a customized envelope!

Thanks for letting me share! The supplies can all be found at the Scrap Shotz store!

How was your National Scrapbooking Day???

Did you spend National Scrapbooking Day scrapping? Did you make it a weekend? Here at Scrap Shotz, many of us attended an in-person crop hosted by Scrap Shotz. Gosh, it was a fun event! Sandy has THE best goodie bags, prizes and...food! Yum!!!

Here is a photo of the make and takes where I chatted with many of you!

The products we profiled were the Spellbinders 3D Daisy Topper, The Crafters Workshop chicken wire template, Tsukineko Goosebumps Shimmer, Mister Huey mists, Kaisercraft sentiments stamp, WRMK Sew Stamper, Technique Tuesday stamp and American Crafts interchangeable punches.

Many of you asked for the directions of the tea bag/gift card/place card holder. I found it on a blog during my world wide web travels...and followed her pictures. However, I have since found a more thorough set of instructions for you to follow.

These make excellent gifts for Mothers and Fathers Day!
