Hello and Hugs

Hi Everyone!

Rosie back with a couple of simple yet striking cards to share with you. Let's start with "Hello":

I started by placing the smaller rectangle mask from the Taylored Expressions Rectangle Masking Stencils over a piece of white card stock and holding it in place with tape. This is what the set looks like:

I then inked from left to right with Distress Oxide inks in Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio wiping the stencil off in between colours and also giving them time to dry.

Keeping the stencil in place and laying the Altenew Warp Speed Stencil over top, I applied Gina K White Glitz Glitter Gel through the stencil and then set the panel aside to dry.

While the gel dried I inked a piece of white card stock with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide Ink and used it to die cut the "hello" with the Altenew Hello and Hugs die and the corresponding shadow out of black card stock.
The sentiment is then stamped from the Hello and Hugs stamp set above and below the inked rectangle.

A sprinkling of Studio Katia gems complete the card.

Next up is "Hugs":

For this card I used the smaller heart from the Taylored Expressions Hearts Masking stencils and shifted the stencil inking each successive heart in a different color.

I've used Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Barn Door, Festive Berries and Candied Apple Distress Oxide inks, allowing each color to dry before shifting the stencil. I began with the heart directly in the centre and then moved outwards on both sides.

Once all the hearts were inked I replaced the stencil over the centre heart, layered the Altenew Feathered Leaves stencil over and applied Vicki Boutin Iridescent Glaze through the stencil.

While the glaze dried I inked a piece of white card stock with Barn Door Distress Oxide ink and die cut 'hugs' from the it. The corresponding shadow is die cut from white card stock.

I added the die cut in the lower right hand corner and stamped the sentiment in black ink from the Hello and Hugs stamp set to the left of the die cut. A smattering of Studio Katia Iridescent Crystals completes the card.

I hope you've enjoyed a look at some of the fabulous products in the store!

Stay safe and Happy Crafting!

Happy Birthday Cards and Layouts with P13

Hello everyone! Carolyn here hoping you are all doing well and finding some extra scrappy time. It felt good to get scrappy again after a few crazy weeks. It was even better having this bright and cheery birthday line to work with. This might be the first time you've products by this company - P13. Check out the links in this post to see the products up close in the shop.

I'll start with this birthday layout using a cut file. If you would like to use this cut file, it is free on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog. It is designed by Paige Evans.
I used paper #5 for the background and a piece of white cardstock for the cut file. I then used all the different papers in the collection to back the title. I traced around the file and cut the insides slightly smaller than my tracing and use a glue pen to attach the cut outs.

I fussy cut lots of pictures from paper #7 to decorate the page. I used some dimensional glue dots to lift them off the page a little. I added a few phrase stickers from this sheet. The flag at the top is from this tag pack. Lastly, the date is done in these alpha stickers.

I made another layout using the March sketch from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. Check out their Facebook group! For this layout, I used paper #4 as the background. I matted the photos with Bazzill Lagoon cardstock and paper #3.
The yellow dots are Liquid Pearls. I put them on scalloped circles I made with punches. Many of the tags are from the flag pack and the circle pack. Can you figure out where the yellow paper came from with my journaling? It is the backing of the tag packs.
No photo description available.
Lastly, I used some leftover papers to make 2 cards. Just so happens we had two birthdays this month so the timing was perfect.
The cards use some fussy cutting and cut apart cards. The finishing touch was using the Liquid Pearls. Here are some close-ups.

Three Easy Birthday Cards!

Hello Scrap Shotz Friends!

Rosie here to share some very easy birthday cards with you but first, how are you all doing? Our schools and all non-essential businesses are shut down so we are working hard to "flatten the curve".

We trust you are all keeping safe and healthy and a big thank you and hugs to all those who are on the front lines from the first responders, to the nurses and doctors in the clinics and hospitals, to the friendly voices at the other end of the phone of 311, 811, 911 whatever the emergency/covid information number is in your area!

I am using some great Taylored Expression products which make cards simple and easy to create.

I used the following products to create these cards:

The Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Stamp Set Background, Taylored Expressions-Simple Strips Die, Taylored Expressions-Simple Strips Backer Die and Hero Arts Wish Big Peek-a-Boo Parts Stamp Set (there will be future projects on the blog using this set so subscribe to make sure you don't miss them :) )

In the back of my mind I had decided to cut a rainbow selection of card stock using the Simple Strips Backer Die:

Prior to cutting the coloured card stock, I stamped the sentiments with the Simple Strips Background Stamp Set in Gina K Amalgam Jet Black ink:

After stamping, I die cut the sentiments with the matching Simple Strips Die:

And in one die cut pass you have 18 various sentiments to use...you can also find:

You can stamp all the above sentiments and die cut with the same die!
There is now a Simple Strips Backer Die which creates a banner "mat" behind each sentiment so you cut 18 "mats" all at the same time with the die.

I used the die with card stock in rainbow colours. You will need to use extended cutting plates as this die measures approximately 8 1/4". Your cutting machine may come with an extended base but not plates.

I created my first card by just laying out die cut strips in rainbow order:

Then I picked out the sentiment I wanted to use and the corresponding die cut mat, embellished with a few Studio Katia sequins and here is the final result:

For this next card I stamped the Hero Arts-Wish Big Peek-A-Boo Parts stamp on white card stock in Gina K Amalgam Jet Black Ink:

Happy Birthday is stamped from the Hero Arts set and the banners are cut in half to create a "wreath" around the sentiment.

Once the banner pieces are adhered with liquid glue, I add foam adhesive to pop up the sentiment.

A few Studio Katia gems from my stash finish this card off.

This final card, also uses Simple Strips Backer Die cuts for the card front which shows how versatile this die is as the die cuts can be used on their own to create a background or mat stamped sentiments.

I alternated the die cut strips and easily matted the die cut sentiment with the matching die cut. I added some sparkle and shine with bling from my stash.

March Scrapshotz Kit - Pinkfresh Studio My Favorite Story - Take 2

Pastel rainbows and blooms! This pretty line of paper makes you long for spring! On this layout I used the rainbow to write my journaling. Under the matted photo, I put a trio of the lovely tags and at the bottom is a bit of popped up ephemera. A few enamel dots spread over the page and it was complete.
For my second layout, I found this older photo of my granddaughter and had to laugh! Since we are social-distancing and self-isolating, the world is worried about having enough toilet paper. This toilet paper pile is pure gold right now! I used a couple of frames to do my journaling in, and popped one on top of the other.
There is a cascade of blooms mixed with chipboard circles down the diagonal of the page and I used plenty of pop dots to give it dimension.
And finally, the cards from the scraps! I love using left over bits of ephemera and scraps of leftover patterned paper to create cards for my stash.
This one is just a tag embellished with a few drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops.
This happy card was created by stamping the sentiment from the Stamping Village Happy Birthday set (available here!) right on a leftover tag, then adding a bow of binding tape and some enamel dots. I colored the hearts with a watercolor pen.
These cards used leftover paper blooms from the kit with a frame on one and the other highlighted with Nuvo drop centers. These cards will work for any event.
This card used another pretty frame and I used a greeting from the Taylored Expressions - Simple Strips Stamp Set Birthday.  These sentiments, along with the dies and the backer dies, are made in advance and stored for quick card making! Taylored Expressions has a few different sets that are cut with the same dies. Love them!!!

Thanks for stopping by for a look at my kit projects. Be well and safe, everyone!

March Scrapshotz Kit - Pinkfresh Studio My Favorite Story

Hello! I sincerely hope this finds you all well and busy at home during this time of social distancing. I manage to keep busy in my craft space. Thank goodness for our hobby! Today I am sharing a couple of layouts created with the March Scrapshotz kit - Pinkfresh Studio's "My Favorite Story."

This simple layout has an Emerson quote that I thought was appropriate not only for the photo, but for this uncertain time. I used the new Lawn Fawn Oliver's Stitched ABC's Die Set. (I noticed that at present, this set is out of stock, but I'm sure if you let Sandy know, she can get you one!) I used a Zig marker for the handwriting in the quote.

The photo is nature at her finest and is highlighted with a Studio Katia stencil called Light Ray, using Vicki Boutin Wildflower & Honey Colour Wheel Pigment Ink gold. This metallic ink is solid and awesome, and it's hard to photograph how pretty it is.
I finished it off with a banner from the ephemera pack that I popped up on foam squares. I was planning to write a bit about this crazy time we're living through right now, but decided that I would like to put my thoughts in a note, put it in an envelope and put it behind the layout.
My second layout today used the Creative Scrapbooker challenge sketch for March 2020, shown here.
This color-blocked patterned paper from the My Favorite Story line needed nothing added. I loved this quote and knew that it definitely applied to my granddaughter, so used the beautiful white Thickers included in this months kit to put it on a black cardstock panel. The white printing is done with a Gelly Roll pen.

The blooms were fussy cut from another sheet of the patterned paper, then some were popped up with foam. The flower centers were embellished with drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops - Ebony Black. I love how they give the blooms some added life. I also embellished the page with some of the enamel dot stickers included in the kit.

Thanks for stopping by. Keep yourself and your families safe and well.
