49 and Market Vintage Artistry Moonlit Garden

The 49 and Market - Vintage Artistry, Moonlit Garden is on my scrapppy desk these days thanks to Scrap Shotz happy mail and I am loving it!

The beautifully muted tones of this collection and the diversity of the embellishments make this set so easy to use for all kinds of memories. I used it for pics of my niece, an eve at the beer garden, and even hiking so far!

Today, I am sharing layouts I made using the 12x12 Collection Pack,   Filmstrip FramesChipboard BitsPostage Washi Tape, and Ephemera Bits. There a few items from my stash too amongst these new goodies.

Monochromatic Inspired

For my first layout, I was drawn to the green in the collection so leaned into a monochromatic design.

To add a touch more green to the background and an anchor for my photo, I squeezed some Tonic - Nuvo Crystal Drops in Bottle Green  across the page and used a spatula to spread it out in a messy square. Once that dried, I added some texture to the page with a Vicki Boutin stencil and black The Crafter’s Workshop - Stencil Butter. A few splatters in black finished it off the background.

From there, I grabbed a few of the Filmstrips and laid those across the green square I made. I dropped my 4x6 photo down in the middle backed with a few collection papers on foam dots. I then reached for all the green leaves (from the embellishments or fussy cut) and added those in and around the filmstrips and photo - I added a few 49 and Market rub on leaves from my stash too.

To finish off the layout, I added in a few more of the embellishments here and there - including the title family. I love how the different phrases and words across the matching packs nestle into one another.

Double Page Layout for the Win

I love a double page layout - the impact they have when flipping through memories in an album is amazing and this collection deserved that kind of impact! I went with a grid pattern of small 2x3 photos centre of the spread and then used full size 4x6 photos with a bunch of embellishments as layout book ends.

To start, I cut down that light pattern paper in the centre and added some journal pen stitching, some touches of stencil using Distress Ink Weather Wood, a few rub ons from my stash of 49 and Market, some Picket Fence Studios stamps and finally black splatters. I backed each of the photos with a coordinating pattern paper before adhering them down. I added a strip of another pattern (with black journalling pen stitches on the outside) to each outside edge for a little more texture.

Next, I worked on the background. I started by rubbing the edges of that fantastic black/white pattern in Distress Ink, Bundled Sage and Distress Oxide, Crushed Olive. I added a few patterns behind my feature 4x6 photos before adhering them down to each side of the grid.

Then it was all about adding embellishments! I added a circle cascade, some film strips and frames to each side for balance. Then a few more touches, including the title ‘Dreamer’ on the left and the tickets tucked into the grid photos from the Ephemera Bits pack. I used one of the chipboard frames right in the photo to showcase my sister hiking through a trail turned very long puddle in the Scottish rain!

I will be back to share more soon - so many possibilities with this amazing collection! I am reaching for cute toddler photos and, of course, more hiking photos next!

Kate & Ash Collection - Double Page Layout!

Hello friends! It's Karla back today with a double page layout using the adorable Simple Stories Kate & Ash Collection! As soon as I saw the beautiful images and designs in this line I knew it would be perfect - not only to document fun times with my girls, but also to use it for myself!! I love the retro feel of the colours, and I can't wait to share with you the two page layout I created using the July SCT365- 2020 Sketch. These photos are from a few years ago, but this collection will easily be able to help me document current pics as well - especially since one of my girls is now a teen!

I used some coordinating green cardstock from my stash to create a frame and then layered on the pretty papers from the 12x12 Collection Pack. I love how there are cut apart sheets included as well as an awesome full size sticker sheet! I used fun pieces from the 6x12 Chipboard Sticker Sheet, Ephemera from the Bits & Pieces Pack, coordinating Decorate Brads & the fun matching Washi Tape to decorate my pages! You can find even more coordinating accessories in the Shop!

I chose some of the fun stickers and embellishments to coordinate with my Breakfast In Bed theme and layered my matted photos to match the sketch. I even used some of the awesome Paper Rose Shaker Mixes and some sequins from my stash to add more pops of colour! I love how the Decorative Brads include several cardstock ephemera pieces with brads attached!

I added some of the Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays onto both sides of the layout, matching the colours to the papers and using a piece of packaging to smoosh the paint onto the page. I even lifted the nozzle out of the spray bottle to add some fun splatters! I used some gold Thickers from my stash to add a title and cut one of the 3x4 journaling cards from the cut apart sheet in the Collection Pack.

The 12x12 Sticker Sheet from the Pack has lots of fun elements, including various sentiments that work great to layer on. I used the absolutely adorable Mama Elephant Boba Tea Shaker Die Set to create a cute little dimensional cup, adding a fun brad to the top! You can see all kinds of more fun cards using this Shaker Set in last week's Facebook Live!!

Make it a Double, Even with a Single

Are you a double-page Scrapbooker?

From my perhaps too many numerous strolls on social media these past few weeks, it looks like most of us stick to a single page layout. Once in while we dabble into doubles, but it is definitely easier to create something up to 12x12 vs as big as 24x12. At least for me, for sure.

When you do dabble, how do you create a cohesive double page layout when our kits generally only come with 1 piece of each pattern paper? No problem, stretch the pattern with the coordinating cardstock in your kit!

The wood background with watercolour florals was by far my favourite pattern in the April Kit and I wanted to showcase it on both sides of this double page layout.

Inspired by the wood slates of the pattern, I cut it into thick strips. I used a couple of these with some white cardstock from my stash to cover about 6+inches of both of the far edges of the layout. I simply glued it right onto the pink cardstock (also from the kit) my entire layout is anchored on. The bit of white showing between the strips of wood pattern gave me that much more coverage and I think really made the look pop too!

I then spent the rest of my evening fussy cutting one of the amazing floral patterns and the tag pattern papers from the kit to tuck and layer and tuck some more in and around these photos. Finished it all off with some gold string from my stash in some of the tags, added some brads and chipboard from the kit and a little splatter or two of white acrylic mixed with just a touch of water.

Photo tip ...

The photos are of are me and my sisters/bridesmaids getting ready the morning of my wedding. I didn’t care to capture the colour of my crazy fun orange shirt or the brown carpet in the hotel room  - I just wanted to remember the sentiment of the morning. Full disclosure, I was also a bit worried about how busy these photos plus all the kit goodies would feel.

Drum roll...black and white to the rescue - gives the eye a place to rest with such a busy layout and portrays just the feelings of the photos, not our colourful outfits!

Hello Farm Girls Double Page Layout Using The March Kit Club

Hello! Karla back today with a double page layout using the March 2020 Kit featuring the absolutely gorgeous Pinkfresh Studio My Favorite Story collection and the April sketch from the SCT 365-2020 Layout Online Class. Each month there is a new double page sketch to create with and I love the way it inspires me to coordinate patterned papers!

For these pages I'm continuing on with the cute farm pictures I used on one of the layouts from Monday with the adorable chicks HERE. I printed these photos as 3x4's, using the Project Life app to get two pictures per 4x6 photo, and love that I was able to get lots on these pages! I actually took the back of the chick layout and added my layers and photos directly to it! The paper was just too cute to waste ;) I cut one of the rainbows from a piece of 12x12 paper from the Kit and added it to my background for a fun touch!

I used a tag from the Add-On Cardstock Tags package and used the Phrases Puffy Stickers and coordinating Alphas from the Kit to create a title. There are lots of fun ways to add embellishments with the Ephemera Pack and Enamel Dots from the Kit, and I added some pretty florals from the Add-On Floral Ephemera Pack. Don't forget, Kit Club members always get to choose their add-on's first so it's a lovely perk!

The colours in the My Favorite Story collection are so bright and sunny - I just felt happy working with these papers and photos!! I added some of the Ephemera and Phrase Puffy Stickers directly on top of my photos. It was so fun to get these cute pics scrapped!

I added one more cluster of embellishments at the bottom left of the page with some Floral Ephemera Add-Ons, Phrase Puffy Stickers, Ephemera and Enamel Dots! I am so excited to get these photos scrapped and into my album!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget to check out the March 2020 Kit and all the beautiful Add-On's in the Shop and find details about becoming a Kit Club Member HERE! You'll always find monthly inspiration here on the blog for using your gorgeous kits. Have an amazing day friends, and stay safe!!

Happy Family Day Layout with Prima Capri & a Video

Hello friends! Karla here today with a pretty double page layout using the gorgeous Prima Capri Collection. The colours and images in this collection are so lovely, and I thought some photos from Family Day this year would look beautiful with them! We visited the Devonian Gardens downtown Calgary, which is an indoor garden, and is absolutely beautiful.

I put together a video to show you how I put together the first page of this layout-

I decided to use a sketch from the March SCT 365 - 2020 Online Class to create this double page layout. I grabbed some teal bazzill cardstock from my stash and added it as accent colour, matting my photos and using some of the same colours from embellishments and papers in the collection.

The Prima Flowers, Ephemera, Wood and Puffy Stickers and Gems are all so pretty!

I cut apart one of the 12x12 sheets to use a Postcard as an area to journal.

I even diecut butterflies with some of the floral paper with my Cricut to embellish my page further.

By adding layers of the Ephemera, using foam tape, and adding the paper flower and gems I added lots of texture & dimension.

The wood stickers are so cool and have such a great effect on the page! Of course, I love how the papers all work together so well and layer wonderfully.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to head over to the Scrap Shotz Store to check out the Prima Capri Collection. I hope in light of recent events you're all staying safe and healthy and I wish you all a crafty week 💖

June Scrap Shotz Kit - Explore Nature In The City Layout

Hello! It's Karla back today to show you a double page layout created with the June 2019 Scrap Shotz Scrapbooking Kit, featuring the Heidi Swapp Wolf Pack Collection. This is an amazing collection of papers, ephemera, stickers, letter stickers and more that will have you creating in no time! I found some photos of my family from a few summers ago when we visited the Big Hill Springs Provincial Park in Calgary, Alberta, and it was awesome to see how wonderfully this kit worked for a day trip in the woods!

I started off with a sketch from the SCT365-2019 Layout Online Class. I love starting with a sketch! I cut my papers similar to the sketch guide and layered them on cardstock, included in the kit. A grid ruler is so awesome when it comes to lining up layers and getting things even. I used some Ground Espresso Distress Oxide Ink to shade the edges of all the paper layers.

Next, I layered on washi tape from the kit, added my photos to the layout and created a title using the coordinating Thickers from the kit. I used one of the vellum frames from the Ephemera Pack to frame a smaller photo on the left.

After I got the base done it was time to have fun adding embellishments!

I wrote my journaling on a card included in the Ephemera pack and layered it on some scraps of paper.

I added some cardstock and acetate embellishments from the Ephemera Pack too.

I just love the variety of papers in this kit! And those Embossed Stickers have so much texture and dimension!

I used one of the acetate embellishments with a silver foiled 'Explore' sentiment to add another element to my title. These Thickers are so gorgeous, with flecks of white dotting a black background.

I used various sizes of enamel dots from the kit and layered them along with some Add-On Puffy Stickers

Be sure to check out the June 2019 Scrapbook Kit and available Add-Ons in the Shop - and get all the details on the Reveal Blog Post with closeups and a video!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have an awesome week my friends!

February Kit Club Double Page Layout & Video

Hello friends! Karla back today with a double page layout using the beautiful February 2019 Scrapbook kit featuring the Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills 2 collection. These papers and kit goodies have gorgeous watercolor and floral prints along with some geometrics - really perfect for any occasion! Today the layout I'm sharing uses photos from last year's Scrapbook Carnival event, which is held in Calgary, Alberta each year in September. It was so fun to meet up with old friends, make new ones and have fun working at the Scrap Shotz Booth!

Here's a look at the Process Video where you can see how it all comes together:

I started off using the February sketch from the SCT365 2019 Layout Class. I love that every month they feature a double page sketch to try out!

I layered papers from the kit onto the purple Bazzill cardstock, also included, and then fussy cut some flowers.

The Add-On journaling spots make lovely areas to add journaling, or as a base for layering.

The chipboard stickers, also an add-on available, are great for framing photos or sections of the gorgeous paper.

The puffy stickers from the kit are so wonderful! I think they are my fav embellishment!!

I created titles using the pretty wooden stickers and mini puffy letters, both from the kit. I used some gold letters from my stash to finish the title, but there are awesome Pinkfresh Gold Puffy Alphas available as an add-on!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to check out the Reveal Post HERE to see what's in the February 2019 Scrapbook kit! I'll be back Monday to share another project, and be sure to keep checking back to see lots more crafty posts to keep you inspired!
