November Kit Club | Cards

Rosie back to share a couple of cards I created with the November Scrapbook Kit featuring the Vicki Boutin Fernwood line!

The December Kit is now available as well and it features Simple Stories Vintage Weathered Garden so you can subscribe beginning with the November kit or pick up the single November kit and begin your subscription in December, it's your choice!

This card is created with a kit stencil and some Vicki Boutin pastes I've had in my stash for awhile. You can recreate it with whatever pastes you have or  just plain ink!

The sentiment is from the kit puffy Thickers and is adhered over a strip of gold card stock from my stash. A few Studio Katia crystals.

Do you still have border punches from back in the day?

I dug out some American Crafts Knock Outs punches to punch these borders for this card:

I layered the punched pieces over each other and the yellow kit cardstock.
The sentiment and embellishments are all from the kit stickers and journal ephemera.

The card front is adhered to an A2 white card base that has been edged with Distress Oxide Crackling Campfire ink. A trio of Nuvo Clear Crystal Drops complete the card.

This kit is so versatile so the limit on it is your imagination!

Happy Crafting!

Mugs & Kisses Christmas Card and Tags!

Hello friends! Karla back today with a sweet little hot cocoa card for you as well as closeups of the tags we made in last week's Crafty Thursday Live Video! In case you missed it, be sure to check it out HERE or scroll down to watch! I used the Honey Bee Stamps Hug in a Mug Stamps and Dies along with the fantastic Mugs & Kiss Die Set to create these fun projects!

There are so many awesome designs you can create with the Mugs & Kisses die set! I love coffee and I'm also a big fan of hot chocolate - plus whipped cream, candy canes and marshmallows are all super yummy, and you'll find all those things in this set! I pulled out Made By Elves 6x6 paper pad (there are sooo many cute coordinating products in this collection!) and used the pretty papers to create two pretty festive mugs and a frame. I love that the Craft Consortium paper pads have elements that you can fussy cut on the inside front and back covers, so I cut out this sweet little elf girl and the Christmas sign to use on the card. The Spellbinders Brushed Silver Cardstock was perfect to diecut the little spoon, which I placed in the elf's hand.

A woodgrain embossing folder decorates the inside of the cardbase and I used some of the Memory Box Glitter Paper to diecut the steamy swirls.

I decorated the hot cocoa and the background tiny peppermint and snowflake Sprinkletz, and I must say, these look good enough to eat!!

Now, here's a look at the tags we made during the Live! Instead of cutting out patterned paper I used Thermoweb Deco Foil Toner Card Fronts and Foils for a fun and shiny look! I even did some reverse foiling with the Toner Sheets to use the foil negative so we didn't waste anything!

Here's a look at the Live video replay - you can watch or even craft along!

And here are some closeups!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to set your reminder for Thursdays at 1 pm MST and join me on the Scrap Shotz Facebook page for a fun Facebook Live each week! Plus you can check out all the past replays on the Video Page HERE! Wishing you a very crafty holiday friends!!

Vicki Boutin Fernwood-November Kit | Make Today Count

Rosie back with another project featuring the November Kit  and I'm going to walk you through how I put this layout together.

I started with the Gather paper in the kit:

I then added some black splatters with the Altenew Jet Black Watercolor Brush Marker:

Next, I added stickers and ephemera from the kit and the Icon Ephemera I purchased as part of the Preorder Bundle:

I adhered the majority of die cuts and stickers with foam tape, filling in the "wreath" and then added photos and journaling.

The journal card is from the Journaling Ephemera pack included in the kit.

The chipboard letter Thickers are customizable so you can leave them white or add your choice of colour.

I inked them lightly and then added black dots with the Altenew Jet Black Watercolor Brushmarker:

The two strips of paper the letters are sitting on are the upc strips from the top of the 12x12 sheets, the backside are printed fully with patterns so you can use them rather than just throwing them away.

This is my third layout with the kit and I still have 7 sheets of patterned paper left so this kit is going to go a long ways!

November '21 Kit: Discover Pure Happiness

 Hello Friends!

Above is not only the title of my project but what I feel every time I sit down to create with a monthly kit!

Sandy takes all the guessing on what works together out of the equation by doing the work you!

You never have to search for the 'right' colour of cardstock in your stash, Scrap Shotz does that for you.

This patterned paper is printed with the large floral cluster in the bottom left and I didn't want to cover that up so I fussy cut around portions of the image with a craft knife and slid the photos underneath.

I also added foam tape under the fussy cut pieces.

The black splatters are created with the Altenew Jet Black Watercolour Brushmarker from my stash and I've curled up the edges of the fussy cut images.

The title is built by combining a Puffy Thicker and stickers from the kit, the butterfly and tall foliage are from the the Fernwood Icon Ephemera.

Pop on over to the store to see all the great products available, lots of time to get your Christmas Wish List together :)

November Kit Club: Vicki Boutin Fernwood!

 Hello Scrap Shotz Friends!

Rosie here and I'm lucky to be playing with the November kit featuring Vicki Boutin's Fernwood line!

So Many Wonderful Things

Lots of fabulous product in this kit and let me start out by sharing a layout I created during a recent Facebook Live (click the link if you'd like to watch the video):

I cut apart a sheet of the kit paper that was printed in a grid pattern and recreated it on white card stock popping up some of the squares with foam tape

The cardstock piece "framed" in the photo is a piece of Vicki Boutin Foundations Paper that has been dry embossed with a stencil from the kit and then colour added with the Ranger *Limited Edition* Distress Mica Crayons.

Ephemera, stickers Thickers and Puffy Thickers from the kit embellish the layout. The kit has a great selection of Fernwood products in it but if you want it all, all the products are available open stock in the store!

Go After Your Dreams

I applied white texture paste through the kit fern stencil on Ranger-Inkessentials Specialty Stamping Paper. Once the paste dried, I scribbled Hocus Pocus, Bubbling Cauldron and Crooked Broomstick Distress Mica Crayons over the paste, blending out with my fingers. I continued apply the crayons and blending until I was happy with the results.

I trimmed the panel and before adhering to a piece of kit patterned paper and then an A2- 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base from the kit cardstock, I spritzed it with Distress Resist Spray then misted with a Glitter Duster and Tinsel Distress Glitter. Honestly I thought the Glitter Duster was silly the first time I saw it but after watching Tim Holtz demo it I had to pick one up and it is fantastic at misting out the fine glitter!

Lastly, I popped up one of the kit stickers with foam tape for the sentiment.

There's still time to pick up a kit if you want this line and I'll be sharing more kit projects as well as projects combing the kit and more of the fabulous products in the Fernwood line!

With all the recent shipping issues we just barely get the current out before it's time for next month's kit so if you're interested in the kit program the add on's are up for the December kit featuring Simple Stories Vintage Weathered Garden, click HERE to check it out as well as all the new items in the shop as of December 1.

Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Country Harvest

Hello! I'm working with this lovely fall collection from Simple Stories, and it's amazing! It's called Simple Vintage Country Harvest, and is full of beautiful colors and images of that lovely season that is gone all too quickly.

First of all, I challenged myself to do a 8.5x11" layout. I found it a great way to use a couple of photos that wouldn't maybe print in a 4x6' size so well. This layout can be easily added to my 12x12 D ring albums with a sheet protector and will provide a fun variation from the regular 12x12 pages.

The second layout created used the Creative Scrapbooker Sketch for December. Here is the sketch and my layout.

I love the beautiful patterned paper and the way the photos with the simple backgrounds are highlighted.

There is a lot of texture and layers with some photos popped up, stitching, velvet ribbon and scrabble tiles. The foam sticker I used in my title was lost on the busy background, so I traced around it on a piece of white cardstock, then fussy cut a shadow, inked it and adhered it with foam dots.

Thanks for having a look. I'll be back with more from this line!!

Simple Stories Make It Merry Layouts Part 2

It's Carolyn back today with some more Christmas inspiration using the Simple Stories "Make It Merry" Collection.

For this layout I used the October sketch from the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Sketchy Facebook Group made by Kerry Engel.
I was really drawn to the big title because there are so many amazing title foam stickers to choose from. It was really easy to make. I backed the photos with solid colours and added some of the paper with the stripes to the center photo. I used a variety of ephemera, puffy stickers and cardstock stickers. I also used a pen to extend the string on the ornaments and some Liquid Pearls to add dimension to the tree.

My second layout was inspired by the wrapping paper in the pictures. I tried to use strips of paper and ribbon to mimic a floor covered in wrapping. I used my sewing machine to add some texture. I layered ephemera in clusters and added some Liquid Pearls again.

I hope we all get to have some in person Christmases this year! Make sure to pick-up this collection to scrap all those wonderful pictures.

Simple Stories Make It Merry Layouts Part 1

Hello everyone! It's been awhile - so much so I last posted summer layouts and now it's Christmas! This month I got to work with the Simple Stories "Make It Merry" Collection. It is so awesome. I love the colours and the good mix of background, embellishment and patterned papers.

Let's start with my favourite layout. I used the November sketch in the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Facebook Sketchy Group
I like how the boxes are tilted and not a perfect 3x3 grid that I would normally use. I had a screenshot of our Christmas morning which was printed on a 4x6 photo. When I cut each family picture apart they fit well in individual boxes. I used a white pen to doodle around the picture to add more interest and contrast. The embellishments are a variety of ephemera, cardstock, puffy and foam stickers.

I was also able to cut out the letters I needed from one of the papers and use them on the foam stickers to make the title I wanted.

For this layout I didn't cut the pictures apart so I could show how we were actually all online. I found a font I liked and used my Silhouette to cut out the numbers. I used the offset tool to make the outline for the numbers. The rest of the layout uses embellishments as listed above but also quite a few from the Simple Pages Page Pieces. It's a set of embellishments that could all be used to make a couple pages. I used them to build 2 visual triangles on the page. I made three clusters of similar size embellishments for each triangle.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy scrapping!
