April 2018 Kit - 1 Canoe 2 - CSM Sketchy Challenge and a card

Hi there!

I'm excited to be sharing my second set of projects made with the April Kit featuring 1 Canoe 2 Twilight.

This month the Design Team is using the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine April Sketch for inspiration.  Here is my take on the sketch.

I changed it up a bit by using five photos instead of three, but other than that, I stuck pretty closely to the sketch.  The large flower die cut really balances out the five photos and draws your attention to the title. All the other embellishments are from the kit, except the word stickers which are from Pink Paislee Pick Me Up.

The kit includes the matching stamp set from the Twilight collection and for my second project, I wanted to make a one layer card with it.

I started with a piece of 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of white cardstock and my Distress Oxide inks in various colours. I stamped the flowers and leaves in a random pattern, then used my diecutter and a stitched rectangle die to cut it down.  I then mounted it on a piece of pink cardstock and then on a white card base. The sentiment was stamped with an Altenew phrase stamp and some rose gold embossing powder.  To finish it all off, I sprinkled it with Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Be sure to check out the complete April kit in the store.

April 2018 Kit - 1 Canoe 2 Twilight Layouts

Hi there!

Today, I am sharing two layouts made with the beautiful April Kit featuring 1 Canoe 2 Twilight.  Oh, my!  These papers are just gorgeous!!

The kit includes a specialty water colour paper, and that was the one I had to start with. I will say that there is a bit of a learning curve on this paper, but I am so happy with the effect. Unlike most water colour, this paper has some kind of coating on it.  I tried to use the technique of adding water first to a section and then add the watercolour paint.  However, it would just pool and not sink in.  I figured out that it works best just using a small amount of watercolour paint and no extra water.  I don't have very fancy paints (just Michael's brand), so that might have been the problem.  And it was difficult to keep the paint from covering the gold resist areas.  So, after hours of painting, this is the hot mess I got.

I was in deep now, so I kept going.  Using a very small paint brush and water, I cleaned up the resist areas. It was painstaking.  LOL! But it worked like a charm.  Once it was all dry, I fussy cut the entire design from the white background and mounted it on a piece of the patterned paper.

The flower was a lot of embellishment already, so I just added a few of the die cut embellishments included in the kit. The butterfly is fussy cut from one of the cut apart sheets. The alpha title is made from Pink Paislee Pick Me Up Thickers and mini tile stickers from my stash. I added some black splatters, sequins and some Stickles to finish everything off.

I was pretty spent working for hours on the first layout, so my next page needed to be quick. That's when the large print paper comes in handy.  I have to admit that I think this paper is so beautiful, I was tempted to just put in in a frame and use it as art.  ;)

The nice thing about using a paper like this, is that you don't have to make the page too complicated.  I didn't want to hide it with a bunch of "stuff". The photo is mounted on some patterned paper and cardstock and embellished with some of the diecuts.  The little wood veneer fireflies are so darn cute!! I added some gold Heidi Shine and some Nuvo drops from the kit to tie in the "fireflies" from the grass area on the paper, to the cluster at the top.  I used a few word strips from the March kit to finish everything off.

I just love the projects I made with this collection.  Be sure to check out the April kit in the store for all the details.

March Kit - Simple Stories I Am Layout #2

Hi there!

Today I'm sharing another layout made with the beautiful March Kit featuring the Simple Stories I Am collection.

As with all Simple Stories collections, it comes with cut apart sheets for pocket page scrapping or as embellishments.  I started this layout with this 4x6 card and used it as part of my title. I used some old Thickers from my stash to finish the title.   All the embellishments on this page are from the sticker sheet, diecuts and chipboard from the kit.

I had quite a long story to tell, but I didn't leave myself any room to journal directly on the page.  So, I made a journaling card from some patterned paper and tucked it in behind the 4x6 card.

For my second project, I needed a quick card for a friend's birthday and since I had the collection spread out aaallll over my desk, I decided to use the kit.  ;)

Once again, I started with a cut apart sheet as the base of the card, and used scraps as layers behind it.  My friend is a quilter, so all the pieces are machine stitched.  The layers are placed on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2 " cardbase  piece of the Lagoon cardstock and embellished with stickers and diecuts from the kit.  The ribbon is from the January Kit.  The "Happy" is a sticker from the 4x6 Sticker Sheet set, as is the "sunshine".  I cut the word from one of the longer word phrases.  I never have a problem cutting an embellishment and only using part of it.  The "birthday" is from a scrap of black cardstock and a die from my stash.

Be sure to check out the store for this collection.  Not only is it beautiful, but it's chock full of stickers and diecuts and paper.  I can see myself using these supplies on may projects to come!

March 2018 Kit - Simple Stories I Am

Hi there!

I am so excited to be sharing my project made with the March Kit featuring the Simple Stories I Am collection!

The Design Team was challenged this month to use the March Sketch from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Sketchy Challenge.  Since I've never really scrapbooked about scrapbooking, I was inspired to do a timeline of some highlights of my time scrapping over the last 20 years.

I started with two pieces of White Bazzill Cardstock and smooshed the background using Distress Oxide in Fossilized Amber and Worn Lipstick.  The title is made from some of the included cardstock diecuts and the Lemonade Thickers, a kit extra. I cut the word "lucky" from the Lagoon cardstock using a Simple Stories cutfile from Silhouette.

The page was embellished with some of the Prima flowers & gems and the Simple Stories stickers and chipboard. To finish the page, I reached deep into my stash to include some of the products and techniques that I've used for scrapbooking over the years.  Can you spot them all?

Sorry for the photo quality.  For some reason, the page is very warped and I had a difficult time getting a straight photo.

I just love this layout.  I'm very glad to have recorded my story.  And the March kit really helped me to do it. Be sure to stop by the store to check it out!

Graphic 45 Sunkissed Collection #2

Hi there!

I'm back with a couple more projects featuring the Graphic 45 Sunkissed Collection.

This photo I took of the seal at Oak Bay, BC was my inspiration.  I had a vision of him "popping" out of the patterned paper. I started by using a very old wave stamp from Fancy Pants and embossing it with some Emerald Creek Baked Texture Embossing Powder in Deep Sea onto some cream cardstock.  This embossing powder gives a great shimmery texture to the solid stamp image.

To complete my vignette, I fussy cut the turtles, starfish and sand dollar and mounted them with dimensional adhesive to give more dimension.  The vignette was finished with some Kaisercraft Wood Veneer piece, sequins and mist splatters.

For my next project, I made a quick and easy card using the Sunkissed 4x6 Journaling & Ephemera Cards.  The package comes with two of each card design.  I trimmed the base card to 4  x 5 1/4 and adhered it to a piece of cardstock.  I then fussy cut the flowers from the second card and matching the flower placement, adhered the flowers over the base with dimensional adhesive.  I cut a banner from cardstock and placed a sticker  over it for the greeting. I wrapped the flowers with string and sprinkled clear sequins.to finish it off.

This collection is so beautiful. Be sure to check it out in the store.

Graphic 45 Sun Kissed Collection

Hi there!

The Graphic 45 Sun Kissed collection is so beautiful!!  The minute I saw the papers, I knew exactly which photos I would scrap.  This is not a two page layout, but companion pages.

I started with by fussy cutting the flower arrangement from the Sun Kissed paper.  Using some Nuvo Crystal Glaze, I added clear dimension to the "Sun Kissed" and some of the flowers. The photos were mounted on some of the coordinating 4x6 journaling cards.
To give the cardstock some texture, I splattered the background with some Faded Jeans Distress Oxide  mixed with some water.  Then I inked the edges of the page with some Versamark and then sprinkled the edges with the new Baked Texture embossing powder from Emerald Creek in Deep Sea.
This embossing powder leaves a lovely distressed embossing.  I can see lots of uses for this product in the future!
I finished the layout with some wood veneer shapes from Kaisercraft and some Nuvo Drops in Midnight Blue.

My next page is pretty simple.  Just lots of layering, more fussy cutting and wood veneer shapes.  Once again, I used the journaling cards as photo mats.  The journaling is tucked into one of the photos on a tag that I cut from a journaling card.

The title is from some older Simple Stories alphas and the "Botanical Beach" was cut using my Silhouette and the Pacifico font.

I loved working with this collection and already have a few more ideas for scrapping the rest of my photos from this trip.

Be sure to check out the store for all the supplies!

January Kit - Kaisercraft Documented Projects #2

Hi there!

I'm back with two more layouts made with the January Kit and the Kaisercraft Documented collection.

My first layout is based on the January sketch from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine.

I tried to do something new with Copper Penny Nuvo Drops.  I used a pallet knife and spread the drops through a stencil from my stash. It worked beautifully.  However, the stencil is quite large and by the time I did the entire pattern, the drops had dried on the stencil.  I tried everything to get it off.  This is how my stencil looks now.  It's still usable and doesn't bother me, but I urge caution if you decide to try it.

There is a lot of paper layering on the layout and everything comes from the kit.  I cut one of the 12" long phrase sticker to make the subtitle and finished the page with some copper rhinestones.

The next layout is a companion page to the first.

I started with a piece of the patterned paper and applied some gesso to the centre of the page.  Then, using the smooshing technique, I applied some Distress Oxides in Fired Brick, Frayed Burlap, and Faded Jeans.  It looks a bit like a hot mess, but I knew that only the edges would show.

I layered some pieces of patterned paper behind my photos and embellished the page with stickers, diecuts and a wood veneer piece from the kit. I made a few more diecuts with the Kaisercraft stamps and ink from the kit. There are a couple Prima Marketing puffy stickers from the November 2017 kit and a wooden heart from my stash.

With all the big titles I have been making with the pack of Vicki Thickers, I ran out of E's.  Not a surprise.  But, because the font is so simple, I was able to "frankenstein" a few E's out of some F's. I'm so glad I made it work, because that title just makes me smile.

I have to say that I made four projects with a lot of embellishments and I still have lots left over.  I loved working with this kit!

January Kit - Kaisercraft Documented

Hi there!

I'm up today with two projects made using the January 2018 kit featuring the Kaisercraft Docomented collection.

My first project is a scrapbook layout.

Since the page was going to have two vertical columns, I wanted a round shape to soften it and tie the two sides together. So, I started by inking a piece of the Smokey cardstock from the kit with the Kasiercraft ink cube, also from the kit and a Tim Holtz stencil from my stash.  I drew a circle in pencil and applied the ink within it.  Once the ink was dry, I erased the line. Then I splattered black watercolour droplets all over the page.

To make the title, I combined the Vicki Boutin Thickers from the kit and fussy cut letters from one of the pieces of patterned paper.

This page is about my journey to fitness this new year, so I wanted to hide the journaling.  So using a piece of the Cream Puff cardstock, I folded a card and adhered the photo to the front.  I decorated the inside with the Kaisercraft stamps and die cuts included in the kit.

To finish the page, I cut strips of patterned paper and and layered them under the photo with  embellishments scattered on the strips. There are ribbons from Tim Holtz Ideaology TrimmingsCompass Coins, and Nuvo Drops in Copper Penny, all kit extras. The butterflies are punched from a piece of patterned paper using punches from my stash.

My next project is a masculine birthday card made with the Kaisercraft Stencil from the kit.

I started by inking a 4 inch by 5 1/4 inch piece of white cardstock with Distress Oxides in Vintage Photo and Spiced Marmelade blending the colours together.

Once the ink was dry, I applied Versamark through the stencil and heat embossed the pattern using a copper embossing powder.

I mounted the finished background onto a piece of the patterned paper. The phrase is the branding strip from one of the patterned papers that I cut to fit. The globe is from the Kaisercraft stamp set and the ribbon and Nuvo drops are kit extras.

This kit is very easy to work with and I'm loving my projects.  I'll be back in a couple days with a few more!

Kaisercraft Mint Wishes - Home for the Holidays

Hi there!

Sylvie here sharing two layouts featuring the beautiful Kaisercraft Mint Wishes collection.

My first page was created by fussy cutting the log images from one of the patterned papers.

You would think it would take a lot of  time, but it was pretty easy cutting since the logs weren't true circles.  LOL!  Once the logs were cut out, I inked the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink to hide the white edges of the paper and to make it look like bark. To give the look of snow, I then splattered them with some white acrylic paint that was diluted with a bit of water. Once it was dry, I  adhered the pieces into a wreath shape on a piece of kraft cardstock. Some of the pieces were adhered with foam adhesive to give dimension.

To decorate the wreath, I cut up the holly border sticker and tucked them in around the circle. I finished it off with some Want 2 Scrap rhinestones.  The flowers are from the sticker sheet  and the bow was cut from another patterned paper and a Silhouette cut file.  I used some Thickers for the title and a little gold mist for some splatters around the wreath.

My next page isn't "Christmassy" at all!

When I received the kit in the mail, these photos were already sitting on my desk waiting to be scrapped. I thought the colours worked beautifully with the kit.  I started by using the smooshing technique on the background with some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide  ink onto the checked patterned paper.  I had already cut the leafy die cut from some white cardstock and using some Nuvo Mousse and a paint brush, I painted the cut file to make it green. I did some more fussy cutting for the flowers and embellished the page with some Nuvo Drops and a couple hearts that were punched out of more white cardstock and painted with the Nuvo Mousse. I used some old stickers from my stash and Thickers for the title.  I just love this page and am pretty proud of myself that you can't tell that this was supposed to be a Christmas line!

Kaisercraft Mint Wishes

Hi there!

Today I'm sharing some pages made with the stunning Kaisercraft Mint Wishes paper pack.  This beautiful kit is so easy to work with.  I love wood prints and the colour palatte is so pretty.

My first project is based on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine sketch for December.

When I saw the sketch, I thought of Christmas ornaments, so using my Silhouette and a Lori Whitlock cut file, I cut out some ornaments. I wanted to bling up the ornaments so the dots on the large ornament were covered in Nuvo Crystal Drops. Using paper glue, I painted the leaves and pinecones and sprinkled loose glitter over it.  And I did the same thing with the word "joy" on the small ornament.  When it was dry, I covered it with more Nuvo Crystal Drops.

To give the hangers a metallic look, I embossed them with silver embossing powder. To make the title, I used some Jen Hadfield Thickers that I inked with white stamping ink and sprinkled with white acrylic paint. To embellish the rest of the page, I fussy cut flowers from one of  the patterened papers and a few Want to Scrap Rhinestones.  I then added some green string that I took from the Christmas wrapping pile. ;)

Here is a closeup of the details.  They are hard to see, but noticeable in real life.

For my next page, I started with some Nuvo Embellishment Mousse and a Tim Holtz Stencil in the top left corner and where I wanted to place the photo.  I decorated the page with die cuts and stickers from the Mint Wishes collection.  The title is made by cutting a branding strip and a Thickers set. I finished the layout by using some Nuvo Drops  and more Christmas string to once again "hang" the ornaments.  The edges were distressed and then placed on a piece of green cardstock from my stash.

This was the first time I've used the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse.  It gives such a nice shimmery texture to the page. Very cool product!

I just LOVE this collection!  It is so easy to work with.  I'll be back in a few days with a couple more.

November Kit with Sylvie

Hi there!

I'm up today with two more layouts made with the November Kit.  The Prima Marketing Amber Moon line is just beautiful. It was so easy to work with and I'm so happy with the projects I made.

I made two pages from the same event, but it's not a two page layout.  I chose to use two sketches to that I felt complemented each other.  The first layout was inspired by the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine November sketch.

I stuck to the sketch pretty closely. For the rounded parts shown on the sketch, I chose to stamp a flower cluster using the Peony Cluster and heat embossed it in gold embossing powder.  I coloured the images with watercolours and die cut the shape with the matching die.  The rest of the page was embellished with the chipboard pieces and rhinestones from the kit.

I found that the Thickers from the kit didn't stand out enough from the background page, so, I used a Faber Castell Pitt pen and just coloured it in to darken each letter.  While the ink was still wet, I dabbed it with my finger to make the ink look distressed and I'm really happy with how it turned out. The stickers for the title are from my stash and they are a very old Echo Park alpha.

For my next layout, I used the sketch from Stuck?Sketches that the Design Team used for this kit.

Hope I don't offend anyone with title, but you can read the journaling that explains it. I used a very old alpha stamp from my stash and put it together with the Thickers and the "love" chipboard sticker from the kit to make a big title.

There was a lot to say in my journaling, so I typed it on my computer and printed it onto a transparency. The striped paper was my favourite from the collection and I didn't want to cover any more of it than I had to. The photostrip in the photo clusters was cut with my Silhouette from the Yam cardstock. The page was embellished with more chipboard, leaves, crystals and puffy stickers... all from the kit!

The November kit is full of embellishments. I've done 3 layouts and a card and I still have a bunch left over for future projects. I love that!

November Kit with Sylvie

Hi there!

Today, I am sharing two projects made with the beautiful November Kit, which features Amber Moon from Prima Marketing Inc.

I have to say that when I opened the pizza box, I just spread out the pretty papers and embellishments and stared at it all for a while.  It is all so pretty!

The first project is a 12x12 layout.  I started with a piece of kraft cardstock from my stash and smooshed some Distress Oxide in Fossilized Amber and Spiced Marmalade over the right side of the paper and a bit on the lower left edge.  The paper was then trimmed by 1/4 inch on each side and placed on the Java cardstock.

I layered and adhered pieces of patterned paper in various sizes and the edges curled up with my hands. Strips of cardstock were placed on the left edge of the page.  The page was then embellished with leaves, flowers, chipboard, puffy stickers and word stickers. The title is made from a puffy sticker and some old Echo Park alpha stickers from a ScrapShotz kit from 4 years ago! ;)

The finishing touch was to add some rhinestones and crystals also from the kit.

My next project is a quick thank you card.

The card was made from the Candle cardstock from the kit.  The lovely thing about Prima is how you can use the packaging for your projects.  The background paper is from the puffy sticker packaging and trimmed to fit.  The "Herbs" card is a cut away from a patterned paper. The card is then embellished with more Prima leaves and the sentiment is  from the Rubber Shapes sticker and Dymo label maker.  Again, the finishing touch was to add a few rhinestones.

This kit is just lovely and so easy to use. I can't wait to play with it again!
