Think Outside the Pocket

Christmas is here! Well at least it is for me!

This month I am playing with a new line from Kaisercraft called Let it Snow. Wow! Enabler alert, check out this unboxing video to see all the goodies Scrap Shotz sent me to play with:

You can find all these products and more from Scrap Shotz at https://www.scrapshotz.com/searchresults.asp?Search=kaisercraft+let+it+snow&Submit=

As soon as I started riffling through the papers and embellishments I knew I wanted to create my 2019 December Daily with this amazing collection. I love teal and silver as a Christmas color combination and knew if I threw in some red cardstock from my stash this would make a perfect December Daily 8x8 mini pocket page album. So fun!

Today I wanted to highlight the pages in this mini album that are outside of the pocket. Yup, outside of the pocket! When creating a pocket page album, I like to make sure I add some embellishments to the outside of the pocket and some themed shaped cardstock pages too. I find with mini albums you can do so many fun things to add texture and interest to the album.

Here are a few examples from this project to help inspire your plans for this year's December Daily (which is approaching too quickly, its almost October already!)

Cluster your embellishments with some in and some out of the pocket:

Consider not using a pocket page protector and making a feature or title page:

Include a few pages that are cut and decorated to match the theme of your mini album:

I will be sure to share more of this album as I create and cannot wait to post a full flip through video too. Are you thinking about your December Daily already? I would love to hear about it and see what you create! Please tag us @scrapshotz on your social media when any of the fabulous products in our store are part of your projects, we would love to ohh and ahh!

Product Review Day 2 - Using Carta Bella and Tim Holtz for a Camping Pocket Page!

Hi there friends! Karla back again today with more goodness to share with you from the product reveal of the Carta Bella Gone Camping collection and the Tim Holtz 3-D Texture Fades Lumber Embossing Folder from Sizzix. Today, I've created a camping pocket page and I'm sharing a process video below so you can see how I put it together.

I used elements from the Carta Bella Gone Camping Paper PackEphemera and Designer Stamps to create a fun page documenting our camping trip last year.

The 12x12 Sticker Sheet has such great images in it that coordinate with everything else, and I love how awesome the stamps are!

The Tim Holtz 3-D Texture Fades Lumber Embossing Folder from Sizzix is perfect to coordinate with this camping line and worked well to create a 4x6 journaling card. A little Distress Oxide Ink added shading on the raised areas.

Here's a look at the video where you can see the process I used to create this page -

Thanks so much for stopping by! If you haven't seen the previous blog post showing you all the goodies I'm using here today, be sure to check that out HERE. I hope you have an awesome, crafty week!

Product Reveal - Carta Bella, Tim Holtz and Pink Fresh

Hi friends! Karla here today to share some fun new products at the Scrap Shotz store! If you haven't see the amazing Carta Bella Gone Camping collection, you are definitely going to want to check it out. I've been having so much fun using it to scrapbook my camping layouts from last year, and I'm already looking forward to documenting our summertime fun with it this year too! You can check out the Reveal Video below to see all these goodies closeup. Here's a look at the layouts I created with the Gone Camping collection, the Tim Holtz 3-D Texture Fades Lumber Embossing Folder from Sizzix and the Pink Fresh Puffy Alpha Stickers.

For my first layout I started off by using the Creative Scrapbooker June Sketchy Challenge. I layered the amazing Carta Bella papers, cut aparts, ephemera and stamps to create a scrapbook page to document the fun we had around the campfire roasting marshmallows. Relaxing around the campfire at the end of the day is definitely my favourite thing about camping 😉

I love how the papers all coordinate with an outdoorsy feel! These would be perfect for a masculine card or scrapbook page as well. I coordinated the alphabet stickers with the stickers from the 12x12 sticker set that comes in the paper pack to create a mini title.

There are such great sentiments on the sticker sheet as well as in the stamp set. You could create some really fun cards with these too!

I created some DIY embellishments using the stamps and some diecuts from my stash. I love using Distress Oxides to stamp with! The stamps are a great quality and stamp beautifully.

I used the Campfire Marshmallow card from the cut apart sheet as a title and layered it with coordinating papers and a couple pieces of cardstock embossed with the cool 3D Texture Fade folder. I used my coloured pencils to colour up the stamps and layer them on to further embellish.

For the second page I tucked some cards from the cut apart sheets and my photos into a pocket page protector. The 3D folder again created a fun and woodsy journaling card, perfect for any outdoorsy theme!

The postcard journaling card was perfect for writing on. I really love the vintage look of this collection!

How cool is the 'Grandma's Camping Salad' recipe card from the cut apart sheet?!! I layered stickers and ephemera along with paper and those pretty alphas to create a title card.

I added a stamp to the Great Outdoors card for a little extra detail and I taped the Camping tab to the outside of my pocket.

Here's a look at the Reveal Video where you can check out everything I'm using close up!!

Here's all the goodies I'm sharing-
Carta Bella Gone Camping Paper Pack, Ephemera and Designer Stamps
Pink Fresh Puffy Alpha Stickers

Here's a look at some of the samples I created with the Tim Holtz 3-D Texture Fades Lumber Embossing Folder from Sizzix

And I had a lot of fun stamping the Carta Bella Gone Camping Designer Stamps and creating some awesome embellishments!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and don't forget you can always check what's new at the Scrap Shotz Store HERE! Hope you have an awesome, crafty weekend!!

Product Showcase - Paige Evans Pick Me Up Collection

Hello! Karla back today with a fun and colourful layout and pocket page using the awesome Paige Evans Pick Me Up collection from Pink Paislee that is new in the Scrap Shotz Store!! My youngest sister and her family came to visit us last summer, and it was the first time meeting my adorable niece, Emily! Of course we were all over the moon to see everyone, but you know there's just something about sweet baby smiles 💓👶💓 This beautiful collection was just perfect for documenting this special visit, and I am so happy I have two more layouts completed to remember it. Here's a look at the 12x12 page. You'll be able to see the process I used to make this layout below.

I really love the 'Haberdashery' pack which includes buttons, enamel stickers and adhesive sequins, which made it so easy to embellish!

The Swatch Books are so awesome - full of beautiful papers and phrases on a heavyweight cardstock!

And these beautiful Lemonade Thickers, which also coordinate... Gorgeous!

Here's a look at the fun sketch I used from Stuck?! Sketches, turned on it's side.

I just had to keep creating and thought a pocket page would be the perfect thing to add the rest of the photos from the visit to. There are so many awesome elements it was easy to make a pretty page.

I love the patterned papers with all the sentiments - so nice to cut apart to add extra elements in the pockets.

And my favourite would be this pretty journaling card I created by fussy cutting elements from the patterned paper and then adding some gold thread and stitching!

You can have a look at the process I use to create the 12x12 layout in this video!

And be sure to check out this video where I give you a close up of all the pieces in this collection that I'm using today!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulous week, and be sure to check out this amazing collection at the Scrap Shotz store!!

December Monthly Kit with Karla

Hello! It's Karla back today with another blog post featuring the amazing Scrap Shotz December Kit  and some of the fabulous kit add-on's again, and today I've created a 12x12 layout as well as a pocket page layout for you! Living in Canada, we get a lot of cold weather in the winter, so we might as well make the best of it and get out to do activities while we can. This kit, which includes lots of awesome elements from the Carta Bella Cabin Fever collection, is so perfect for all those winter pics!!

I used the pretty Thickers from the kit, which have a shiny coating on them, on the bottom of the layout. They are such a great size to make a nice big title!

I layered the papers on a piece of ivory cardstock from my stash and used some of the beautiful shiny snowflake paper which comes in the kit. I love the pretty brads and enamel dots layered over the ephemera along with some of the 'add-on' rub-ons and enamel phrases.

The pretty enamel snowflakes that come in the kit are so pretty layered over papers and photos - I love the clear backing!

When I have extra photos I really like putting them into a pocket page!

I cut apart the patterned paper with the 4x6 cards on it and used this pretty sweater pattern to layer on a couple pieces from the ephemera pack, a piece of the shiny snowflake paper and a photo cut to 2x2.

I cut the brown cardstock, included in the kit, to fit in the 4x6 pocket and added a 3x4 photo, rub-ons from the add-ons, a piece from the ephemera and some enamel dots. A white gel pen showed up nicely to add some journaling.

I used some of the cut apart 3x4 cards in the pockets and even added some of the patterned papers cut to size to create my own journaling cards. The stickers from the sticker sheet are perfect to layer on, and the neat Bundle Up sticker from the enamel phrases pack, which is an add-on, added a nice detail to my photo.

The cut apart sheet has such great printed journaling cards that you can simply tuck them into pockets without even adding anything else and they look great!

Thanks so much for stopping by! To subscribe to the Scrap Shotz kit club, you can check out this month's kit at the store, and the coordinating add-on's can be found here by scrolling down to the December 2017 section. I hope you have a warm and cozy week ahead, and have lots of fun creating!!
