Hello everyone!

I'm Gloria Hayoung Lee.

I moved to Canada with my husband in 2004 and I currently live in Markham Ontario Canada with wonderful husband and two boys.
My biggest hobby is cardmaking. I really love to make cards and try to make various types of cards.
I love to create watercolour cards with flowers and maker coloring with cute images, cheerful and bright colours.

I am so excited to be a part of the Scrap Shotz design team and looking forward to this new challenge.

Laura Gilhuly

Hi everyone!  I am really excited to be joining the team here at ScrapShotz!!!!  I am Laura. I am a stay at home mom to 2 fantastic and fun loving young men – Cody is 17 and Ty is 16.

I am happily married for 18 years to my best friend and awesome husband, Jon. He is hardworking, ambitious, determined and loving...I am creative, enthusiastic, emotional and passionate – together we make a great team!  We own our own transport truck and he is a long haul driver so during the week, It is me and our boys and my scrappy stuff!!! I started scrapping years ago when my sister took me to a Creative Memories beginner class and I although I really enjoyed it I just wasn't a Creative Memories scrapper and soon struck out on my own. I found a few very helpful and friendly sites on the web and have been trying new things and learning ever since.  I really enjoy trying new things and creating projects!  I create mostly 12x12 layouts but I do really enjoy creating off the page projects, cards and canvases...anything were I can ink and paint and play and get my hands messy!

My family is the focus of my life, my inspiration, and my motivation to scrapbook.

Karla Yungwirth

We are thrilled to have Karla join our design team, you may remember her as our page kit designer, she ROCKS kit reveal videos and process videos, we are super looking forward to her creations...

"Hi friends! I'm Karla Yungwirth - blessed with three wonderful girls and an amazing husband. We live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, but I'll always be a Maritime girl at heart, as I grew up on the East Coast. I'm home with my girls and we all love crafting together - it's awesome to watch them try new ways to use supplies! I've been crafting as long as I can remember. My mom was always recycling something old into something new for my sister and me, my grammy knitted and my nanny sewed and crocheted. I'm so blessed to have had their influences in my life. About 16 years ago I was introduced to scrapbooking and it was a whole new world! This led to card making and mixed media. I love trying new things and have met so many amazing people on this creative journey! You can always find me with a cup of tea and a crafty project."

We are looking forward to wonderful and inspiring projects from these ladies! They'll share them right here beginning in May!

Shadow Script Words

Happy Wednesday! I can't believe it's April already and Easter is over! But I am ready for spring and flowers! Today's projects are simple cards that you can put together quickly. The new Shadow Script #1 Thinlits are amazing! I don't think you can ever have too many word dies and now the shadow part can be cut out too!

I used bits of paper I had in my scrap pile from the TH Etcetera paper for the words, and for the shadow part I used some dark brown card stock I had .

For my layers, two pieces of Th Etcetera paper edged in Distress Ink in Walnut Stain and these I adhered flat.
To add some texture I used my TH heart stencil and some of the wonderful grit paste, and once it had dried a bit I lightly sponged over it with the Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I love the roughness of the grit paste.

And the finished project!

My second project is using the Sizzix 3-D Bohemian Botanicals Embossing folder. For this one I embossed two pieces, then chose my favorite flower, painted it with Distress Oxides in Wilted Violet, Shaded Lilac, Lucky Clover and Evergreen Bough and then cut it out.

Once my ink was dry, I cut out the coloured piece, layered it on black cardstock with very thin amount of black showing and adhered it to the first embossed layer. Kind of spotlighting just the one flower. I love this technique because you can choose any section you like to spotlight.

You can see at the bottom of coloured piece and at the side that it joins the embossing below.
My finished spotlight card.

Thanks for stopping by the Scrap Shotz blog. Keep checking in because the new monthly kit is being released and you won't want to miss out on that!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

April Product Reveal: Tim Holtz Layering Stencils

Stencils are some of the most value-oriented and versatile items within my stash. It lets me create innovative projects with no two looks alike time and time again.

Below are the supplies I used to experiment with the Tim Holtz Stitched and Thatched Layering Stencil. On the right is a manilla tag and to the left is a piece of cardstock I used to tap off excess ink. With distress oxide inks, the distress sprayer and distress embossing powder...as well as kit leftovers, I created a tag to be used as a bookmark.

After blending the oxide inks, I used my Distress sprayer to create fine as well as heavier water splotches. Then I zapped it with my heat gun...to speed the process along.

Using Wendy Vecchi embossing paste with the Hatched stencil, I heat embossed the pattern with Distress embossing powder. The edges of the tags are brushed with Vintage Photo oxide inks. Then using leftover accents from a previous kit, I adorned the tag. I had some black acrylic paint on my desk and decided to add some black splotches for some interest.

For my second project, I masked off a heart on a piece of dark kraft paper. First I used the Concord and 9, Dotty turnabout stamp with Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink which I heat embossed with Wow Pearl white embossing powder. Then I applied the Tim Holtz Stitched layering stencil on top of the heart mark and added a pop of blue to the heart.

The panda and love letters are from Mama Elephant which I just had to add a touch of whimsy to the card.

I hope I inspired you to use your stencils!

Hello Slider Card

Hello!

Rosie back to share a project using a variety of products. I've had this Lawn Fawn Magic Slider die in my stash for quite awhile so I thought I'd pull it out and give it a whirl 😊.

I'm using this die along with these new products from the store:

Lawn Fawn Quilted Backdrop die

I've also used the following Distress Oxides:

Now on to the card!

The slider portion is the smaller rectangle with the die cut frame from the paper pack. The slider pieces are all cut from the slider die as well as the gingham frame. I inked a piece of Neenah card stock with the 3 colors of Distress Oxide ink listed above. Once the piece was dry I cut it with the Lawn Fawn Quilted background die, trimmed it slightly and adhered to a standard A2 card base.

Let's take a look at the slider in "action":

Here's a link to a great video by Lawn Fawn explaining how the slider goes together.

The flowers are die cut with the Tim Holtz Funky Flowers Dies from scrap pieces of card stock. There were adhered to the Distress Oxide inked backround. I used a word die cut rather than a stamp and once the slider window was glued closed I adhered Studio Katia sequins over the flower centres.

I hope you've enjoyed a closer look at this card, thanks for stopping by!

New Prooducts!!

Happy Wednesday!! Cathy here to share a couple of projects featuring all new supplies that you can get right here from Scrap Shotz!
My first project features some of the new Tim Holtz Thinlits! Don't even think about it, just add them to your must have list! These are the perfect size for your traveler's journals!

I've started a journal for my mini get away I had in February. The TH Stitched Slots die is perfect for adding more spots to tuck in your keepsakes.

I used some paper from my TH stash and glued it to some cardstock so the pocket would be sturdier.

I do not have a sewing machine to stitch, so I just used a black marker to emphasize the stitch marks. I did use a fine tip pen so the nib fit right in the stitches.

I cut mine out so the bottom part showed the map that shows the Canada/US border on the side I live on. My little getaway was just across the border into Washington.  At the top of the page I used the Tim Holtz Thinlits Shadow Script #1 for my word.
In the first stitched slot I slid in a pic from our first stop and a tag with a description of where we were and what we were up to on the first stop.

A quick word of advice, don't throw out the little slot pieces that get cut out! I've used them on the next page.

On my second page I used the little cut out parts as embellishments. They'd make a great page border too!

This little label in blue is also from the Stitched Slots set. Perfect for adding a title or words and make them stand out a bit.

For my second project I used the Sizzix Textured Impressions 3-D Bohemian Botanicals. All I can say is WOW!! I found a piece of thin metal in my stash and decided to use that to emboss.

This folder is gorgeous!

Look how amazing the metal looks with the 3-D embossing! When using one of these 3-D folders with your Big Shot, use only 1 cutting plate. The folder itself is very thick.

To add my colour I used alcohol ink and touch of blending solution.
Once I was done with the inks, I loved how it looked just as it was. So I used a canvas board for the background and did all the edges using the glorious Baked Texture Embossing Powders. On my project I used Ancient Amber, Patina Oxed and Rocky Road.

And here a few close ups of the texture from the embossing powder and the alcohol inked 3-D embossing folder.

And the finished project!

Such amazing products just in at Scrap Shotz! You'll want to get your order in for these great tools for creating!

Thanks for supporting Scrap Shotz and our fantastic Design Team! Stay tuned because the April Kit is going to be released soon!!
