Traveler's Notebook Layout with 49 and Market

 Hello, Jenn here to share a Traveler's Notebook layout. I've been inspired by Scrap Shotz challenge for the month of February to get an unfinished project FINISHED! I know I'm not alone in having a pile of half finished projects that need some attention so I think this challenge is the perfect push to pick one and get it done. The first project I've chosen is my May 2019 Traveler's Notebook, which only has a few pages left to finish, one of which just happened to be a picture of my peach lemonade from Starbucks, the perfect match for the 49 and Market Color Swatch Peach Collection that I got from Scrap Shotz! Here is what I did:

All month long I have been playing with the sketch that I created for February so I thought it would be fun to try shrinking it down to a Traveler's Notebook size for this layout. I threw in a few of my favourite techniques, as well, to ingnite some creative sparks and complete the rest of the notebook. To start I used some watered down Abandoned Coral Distress Ink to create splatters on my background. While that dried, I chose the cover paper from the Peach collection, which has a small sample of each paper pattern on it. I really love using this paper in every collection to stretch my collection. I tore strips of paper from this sheet so there would be multiple patters on each strip, for my horizontal and vertical layers. This gave me a lot of colour for my layers without having to sacrifice a small strip torn off of multiple pieces of paper. The torn edges also give a lot of texture and interest without too much dimension. 

I layed down in strips in layers, similar to the sketch, and then added an envelope and tag from the Peach Envelope Bits pack, and some leaves and butterflies from the Peach Acetate Leaves pack. I also had a piece of a cutfile that I used as a stencil for an earlier layout in the Traveler's notebook and thought might make a nice embellishment so I cut it apart to fit it around my little picture. The finishing touches were a few sequins from the SpiegelMom Scraps Peach Fizz sequins mix and a sketchy border around the layout using a peach marker.

I always enjoy creating fun little layouts that come together quick and easy. I like to stick to my comfort zone to get started with finishing a project that I haven't touched for a little while, and then I can slowly build up my creative confidence with go-to techniques. For me, those include using a sketch to inspire design, using scraps, paper tearing, splatters, sequins, and sketchy borders. I try to keep it simple and use a limited amount of supplies, like a single collection. After creating this layout, I went on to finish three more and completed this project, WOOHOO!!! Mixed Media Layout using the October Kit

Hello friends! Karla back today with a mixed media layout using that beautiful October Scrapbooking Kit featuring the awesome Carta Bella Hello Autumn Collection! This is the fourth layout I've made and I still have enough supplies to create a lot more!! I decided to use some mixed media on this page that I shared Live on the Scrap Shotz Facebook page last week. You can see the edited Video below. 

I used some Distress Oxide Sprays in Crackling Campfire, Wild Honey and Twisted Citron to add a watercolour effect to the white cardstock in the background. The colours matched beautifully and add to the Fall feel of this Thanksgiving layout. 

I used the Deco Foil Adhesive Pen and Green Deco Foil to add a shiny element to the cut apart journaling page and the chipboard Thicker (below). This is such a quick and easy no-heat way to add shine! 

The assortment of stickers from the Foam Stickers, chipboard Thickers, icon chipboard and add-on Sticker book and Puffy Stickers were perfect to add to embellish the page!

Hey Girl! Kate & Ash Collection Layout & Video

Hello friends! Karla back today with a fun layout using the awesome Simple Stories Kate & Ash Collection!  This is such a fun, bright collection with a cute girl vibe!! I just love the colours in the 12x12 Collection Pack, which includes fabulous cut apart sheets and a full size sticker sheet! I absolutely loved that my daughter's outfit matched the colours in the paper, lol! I forgot to add my journaling before I took this photo, but the story behind this layout was that my 8 year old kiddo discovered the photo booth app, which distorts your features, on my iPad one day and while I was busy took a bunch of photos! I didn't even realize she had taken them until I was looking through my pictures, lol. 

I used some one of the 3x4 cut apart sheets to add this fun Hey Girl title, edged with Iced Spruce Distress Oxide Ink, and popped up one of the pretty coordinating flowers Ephemera from the Bits & Pieces Pack. The Sticker Sheet  from the Paper Pack has lots of fun little elements like these hearts and word stickers that work wonderfully to embellish your pages! I added some splatters of colour using the gorgeous NEW Dina Wakley Gloss Spray Paints in Carnation and Aloe - oh my goodness these are amazing!

I added the Oh Snap word sticker from an older Vicki Boutin Thicker sheet from my stash and added the camera from the 6x12 Chipboard Sticker Sheet. 

I added another pop of colour with the Decorative Brads & the fun matching Washi Tape at the bottom of the layout, with a stamped date. I'll go back and add my journaling around the edge of the page before I pop it in my album!

Little Lumberjack - Just One Perfect Pic Layout

Hello again friends! Karla back again with another scrapbook layout using the fabulous Little Lumberjack collection from Echo Park, which is new in the Scrap Shotz Store! On Wednesday, I posted a closeup look at all the pieces available as well as a layout and four cards, which you can find HERE. Today, I'm sharing a process video showing you how I created a Fall Photo Shoot layout using all those funny pics where no one is looking the right way! Since I had so many photos to use, the November 2019 Creative Scrapbooker Sketch was perfect as a starting point.

The Animal Track Stencil was stenciled with brown Distress Oxide Ink over the brown cardstock from the 12x12 solid paper pack. I love that Echo Park offers this coordinating solid pack - great for perfectly matching backgrounds!

The ephemera packs are great for adding embellishments! I added some twine to a tag and layered on different elements, using some foam dots for dimension. 

I added some alpha stickers from my stash, varying the sizes and fonts to add interest.

I printed some journaling on a card from the Project Life App, printing it out with my Canon Selphy Printer. The finishing touch was adding a few more stars from the sticker sheet and ephemera packs and some matching enamel dots!

Process Video: Winter Farmhouse, Dad's Hockey Rink

I am playing with the November Scrapbook Kit this month and loving it! This kit is a beauty and features loads of the amazing Simple Stories, Winter Farmhouse collection.

I am taking full advantage of having such a fun, winter and farmhouse themed collection to document winter and Christmas stories from our family farm. In this process video, I am documenting the homemade rink my dad makes every year for us 'kids' and our friends and family get together.

Here are a few still shots if you don't have a chance to check out my video - I recognize we are embarking on the busiest season of the year here but do think a cup of coffee and some scrapbooking YouTube would be a nice treat you (wink, wink):
