A Day in the Life - Echo Park

This month I am doing something completely different (for me!!) I've been dabbling in planners and this collection with the months and days is perfect for documenting your year. To begin, I dressed up my planner page with ephemera and chipboard.

Such a fun way to use the stickers! Sometimes, especially in a book like this, I split the chipboard, stripping away some of the bulk. I find that this still allows it to be prominent, but not nearly so bulky.

I was really excited about creating the next project. It will be an ongoing Simple Stories mini album for my granddaughter, with photos from her year. I did the cover page with die cut alphas and some popped up ephemera.

Then I created the second page double page spread with a pocket page.

I'll keep you posted on the progress of the album throughout the year!

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure you show us how you've used the beautiful A Day in the Life collection in the Scrapshotz Papercrafting Group!

Playing With Lunar Pastes!

Hello friends! Karla here with a quick post sharing a look at the beautiful New Lunar Pastes, now in the Shop!! They have a gorgeous mica shine to them and there are so many ways to use them! Check out the Facebook Live Video below to see them in action. Here are a couple cards I made using Distress Oxides, the Waffle Flower Moon Bay Stencil and the Lunar Pastes! We pulled out the Waffle Flower Mini Stencil Mat to hold our stencil and paper steady and it worked amazingly!

I love this Moon Bay Stencil and the many ways you can use it! I used sentiments from the Stamping Village Thinking Of You Stamp set (on sale!) and created a night sky with Clear Skies Lunar Paste (blue) for the moon and a sponge and the Slippery When Wet (yellow) Lunar Paste applied through a stencil with a palette knife for the stars.

I even used some of the paste mixed with water to splatter the background for even more shimmer!

We made this card Live in the Video below! I love the sunset - or sunrise - effect!

I used the yellow paste for the sun and the blue for the water this time! They layer beautifully over the Distress Oxides too!

Here are some swatches of this gorgeous paste in Clear Skies and Slippery When Wet. We will be playing with the other colours Live this week ;)  I added it to both white and black cardstock with a palette knife and it looks gorgeous on both! On the sample on the right I sponged it directly from the jar onto a piece of white cardstock and then diecut it out with the Waffle Flower Shaker Star Die Set

Here are a few more ideas for ways to use your pastes!
Through a stencil,
Mixed together to create more colours,
Spray your stencil with water to create a negative impression,
Watercolour an image -from the Stamping Village Birthday Stamp Set (on sale!)
Paint watered down Lunar Pastes on your background.

Sponged on Stamping Foam watered down slightly,
Sponged on Stamping Foam with a thicker consistency and mixing colours,
Splattered on a background,
Stamping with the paste,
More watercolouring in an image, again from the awesome Stamping Village Birthday Stamp Set!

Check out our Facebook Live where we play with these gorgeous pastes and make a beautiful card!

Simple Stories - Simple Vintage Country Harvest

This beautiful Simple Stories Simple Vintage Country Harvest line is so easy to work with! I created a single page and a double page layout this afternoon, which is record time for me!

Lots of dimension with the chipboard clusters and the emphemera that is included in the line. Some of the pieces were popped up a little more with foam.

The second layout is a 2 pager. I love these photos and wanted them to take center stage.

I love that each of the pages can stand on it's own, but is even more dramatic when put together.

I fussy cut the layered element (with the truck) from a sheet of the patterned paper. The brads add a bit of gloss and the dimension of the raised photos as well as foam mounted ephemera gives the page a lot of interest.

The foam stickers are amazing. I love the great fonts that make titles so easy.

There is still a good supply of this line in the Scrapshotz store here. Now's the time to get those beautiful fall photos into your album!

Carta Bella Welcome Winter Layout Part 2

Welcome to part 2 of the Carta Bella "Welcome Winter" Collection from Scrap Shotz. My first layout was so fun to make with a scarf cut file.

I backed the file with pictures and a couple different papers. The actual scarf is Bazzill "Smoky" cardstock. The skis are chipboard and the center square is a title cut from a piece of paper. The wreath and a couple stickers at the bottom are puffy stickers. The sleigh is a cardstock sticker. I wanted to use the brown letters from Doodlebug "Sunshine" (BonBon colour) but the background paper was too dark. So I covered a piece of chipboard with white paper since the saying underneath had nothing to do with my project.

I had some twine left over so I taped pieces to the back of the scarf. It has so much more interest now. The final step was to splatter some white paint in line with the scarf tail to add some movement.

This second layout is pretty simple but has lots of layers.

I used the Bazzill Smoky cardstock that came in the kit to border the lined paper at the bottom. The flags I made by tracing flags that came in the ephemera pack. The title was in the ephemera pack and the stickers are a variety of cardstockchipboard and puffy stickers. I also love adding twine to a layout so I'm so glad some came with the kit.

Fernwood and A Paper Crafting Challenge!

 Hello Friends!

Rosie here with another layout I created using the November Scrap Shotz Kit, the kit itself is sold out but the entire line is available open stock.

You can all the Fernwood available in the store HERE.

This was based on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine December Sketch.

I fussy cut the flowers from the Flora and Fauna paper and added stickers and die cuts with foam tape.

You can add colour to the kit Thickers but I decided to leave them white.

Have you joined the Scrap Shotz Paper Crafting Group on Facebook?

There is a brand new challenge running for January and we'd love to have you join in, all you have to do is create a project with something NEW, either a product or technique that is new to you.

I created this card with products that I purchased last year but had not yet used:

I embossed kraft card stock with the Altenew Deck Planks 3D Embossing Folder, then layered blooms stamped and heat embossed from the Fernwood InspiringAcrylic Stamp Set. The blooms are coloured with Vicki Boutin Gel Crayons and a sticker from the Fernwood November kit completes the sentiment.

There is a prize up for grabs as well so click on the link above to head to the group and join the challenge!

Carta Bella Welcome Winter Layouts Part 1

Hello scrappy friends! I got to work with the Carta Bella "Welcome Winter" Collection this month. It is full of lots of basic background papers which I love as I always find those pages are the ones I use the most. There are also many pages with patterns and cut apart cards so this kit can easily be used for scrapbooks or cards. This kit is mainly dark and light blues, grey, brown and a forest green colour. Luckily, the weather was milder last year so I got a variety of snowy pictures to scrapbook. It's -43'C as I write this so I hope we get some warmer weather soon to get out of the house!

The first layout is like a picture-frame style. I bordered everything and used the manufacturing strips at the bottom of the pages to make a design at the bottom.

The title is made with chipboard and twine. The ice skates are the same but one is a piece of chipboard and the other is a cardstock sticker. I used some foam behind the sticker so that it sits at the same height as the chipboard. The year was added using Doodlebug "Sunshine" stickers. I tagged the gold coloured ones but on the layout the colour is called Bon Bon.

For my next layout, I used the December sketch from the Creative Scrapbooker Sketchy Facebook Group as inspiration.

I layered a variety of papers and stickers and then used a cut apart card in the center. The kit came with a beautiful shiny silver paper which was a nice addition to the page. The kit also had the center snowflake embellishments from Creative Impressions which I layered together. I'm so happy I got these pictures scrapped because it was such a fun afternoon watching these two push their snowball 'baby' in the swing and on the sled.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Art Journaling Style Layouts using the December Kit!

Hi friends! It’s Karla back today with two more layouts using the beautiful December Kit Club, which has now sold out... but the January Kit is now in the shop!! and it's amazing too!! If you were lucky enough to grab a December Kit here is more inspiration for you using it. PS If you didn't see my last post with the first three projects, check them out HERE

It's not very often that I only use one photo on a page, but I gave myself permission to do just that for my younger girls school photos. The papers in the kit are so beautiful and the neutral tones really go with any colour palate. Plus I love the soft, floral elements!

I've been watching TikTok videos lately of people doing art journaling and layering papers and stickers to create a layered effect on the page. I thought this idea would work perfectly for these two pages.

I tore and distressed the pretty papers and added brown Distress Oxide Ink to give texture and colour to the page.

I added some journaling on the cut aparts included on the patterned papers from the kit. These two pages had lovely printed images and were perfect for a pretty background.

I used some of the stickers from the sticker book as well as the foam stickers to add titles to the pages.

I tucked in floral and leafy elements using the ephemera diecuts  from the kit and layered on sticker words.

I'm so happy with how these pages turned out and I know these will be treasured in our albums for years to come!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out all the info on our fabulous Kit Club HERE!
