New Product Review - Lawn Fawn Say What Pets Gift Tags and Video

Hello friends! Karla back today to share 6 adorable gift tags created with the super cute Lawn Fawn Say What Pets Stamp Set and Dies! I already had the Say What Critters and Gift Tag Die Set from a previous release and I thought this set would be a great addition to them. I do love that Lawn Fawn always has lots of sets that work with your other products you already own and love!! Here's a look at all 6 tags. I created three shaker tags and three more flat tags. Both kinds are easy to create and are definitely guaranteed to bring a smile to the face of whomever you give them to. Be sure to scroll down to the end where I'm sharing a video giving you a closeup look at all the tags and walking you through creating one of each kind.

I find that by using fun foam from my kids' craft drawer I am quickly and easily able to create my shaker areas with no fuss! These fun sequins from Studio Katia and Pretty Pink Posh add to the bright Spring feel of these tags.

And, oh my gosh.... these adorable sentiments! So super cute!! I coloured a whole bunch of these sweet animals up in different colours and then coordinated them with different colours of tag bases, frames and reinforcers from the Gift Tag Die Set. A few more sequins add just a little more bling.

You can check out the video below for even more details and to see how easy it is to create both styles of tags!

Try Fussy Cutting

Hello, crafty Scrap Shotz friends!

Today I am here to encourage you to find those pattern papers that you find a little intimidating. You know the ones ... the papers that have very busy patterns. They feel too busy for a background, .too beautiful to waste as a layer and are so fabulous you are intimidated and (gasp) you end up hoarding them in your stash. Not anymore!

I have to admit the papers in this month's Scrapbook Kit from the talented folks at Altenew felt this way for me - they are absolutely stunning, busy, gorgeous and worthy of a frame! I show you each of the papers in my 'favourite items' unboxing video on my YouTube Channel (Scrapstorian) if you want to see what I mean. Fabulous!

Brace yourselves, the first thing I do when I find a pattern I love but its too gorgeous and busy to find a way to use it as a solid 12x12 .. I grab my fussy cutting scissors and start making die cuts. Yup, that's right, I cut that beauty apart and make it a whole bunch of beauties. Then I feature them on a layout with a more neutral background to make them pop.

Inspired by the Just Nick Studio cut file that came with the kit and matches perfectly with the pink blossom with blue stems pattern paper I cut - I just started layering and tucking and poking and placing all the amazing and matching leaves I cut.

The colors I was working with are blue and pink with a dash of teal; so anything in the kit matching this description also got included. I love working with just a few colors, and making bold busy patterns more "Brande" friendly as die cuts.

Here are a few close-ups so you can see that I literally added everything that matched from the kit.

I loved creating this page - it was one of those layouts that just came together so well.

If you have a Kit this month, I would love to see how you are using the amazing products from Altenew. Please post and hashtag #scrapshotz

Happy crafting!

Altenew Live Your Dream Pt.2: May SSZ Kit

Hi All!

I am back with my remaining kit projects and I am going to kick this off with some cards! I've jumped into the cardmaking in the past few years and am so enjoying it, I love it so much I jumped into the Altenew Educator Certification Program and am the first certified Canadian educator!

Let's start out with this super simple card!

I cut a piece of the kit patterned paper to 4 1/4"x 51/2". Next I applied Ultimate Crafts double sided tape to black card stock and used beautiful Altenew Antique Engravings Cover die to cut this beautiful die cut. I then adhered it to the patterned paper and glued the entire panel to a white card base.

I then coloured the Altenew image from the Stamping Village-Collaborative stamp set and adhered it to the centre of the die cut. The final touch is a scattering of Studio Katia Black Crystals from my stash.

This paper feels a little heavier than your average card stock so I wanted to try water colouring on it. I stamped the Altenew Delicate Flower Bed stamp in embossing ink and heat set with gold embossing powder. (Stamp available by special order.) The blooms are coloured with Altenew water-colour brush markers. After the panel dried I adhered it to an A2 size white note card and then coated the blooms in Nuvo Crystal Glaze. The sentiment is from the kit ephemera pack.

I created this card using the May 19 Kit add on 03-Clear Stickers. First I masked a diagonal portion of  4"x 5 1/4" white card stock with 1" painters tape. I then randomly adhered the clear stickers, trimming any pieces that overlapped along with the portion of stickers that hung off the edge. I gave the stickers a good rub to ensure the edges were stuck down good.

I then applied Black Soot Distress Ink with a finger dauber all over the white areas of the card stock, not worrying if I inked pieces of the stickers as well.

The ink wipes off the stickers with a paper towel. Add sentiment from kit ephemera with foam adhesive.

This card is designed around the gorgeous floral chipboard bouquet.

I cut a 4" high strip of paper from the pink ombre kit paper. This is layered over the left side of a 4" high x 5 1/4" kit card stock that has been embossed with the WRMK basket weave embossing folder, I actually wanted to use THIS folder but picked the wrong one. The kit ephemera die cut is glued in the middle of the kit chipboard.

After embossing I applied Mother of Pearl Nuvo Embellishment Mousse to add some shine. The final step was adhering the sentiment chipboard to the center of the card.

Now I have another layout to share with you. So far I've created 4 cards and 3 layouts, this next layout makes 4!

As I stated in my last post, a coordinating paper line is so awesome to work with. For this layout I tore various widths of various papers and adhered them vertically on a piece of blue kit card stock. I matted the photo on black card stock, offsetting on kit orange card stock and then offsetting on kit patterned paper that I tore along the right edge. I then adhered the photo mat with foam tape in the centre bottom 1/3 of the page.

I used foam tape to adhere the exclusive die cut designed by Just Nick Studio and cut for all kit members on white card stock. I then placed Add On clear stickers over and under the die cut and layered kit chipboard under the die cut. The blooms are embellished with Studio Katia black crystals from my stash.

Here is a closeup of the ephemera journal die cut and the clear stickers layered under the photo mat along with the kit epoxy wood buttons.

The scattering of Studio Katia black crystals from my stash, the kit Add On 06  Studio Katia Midnight Crystals would be perfect in place of these if you don't have them in your stash.

So after all these projects I still have one more layout to share and oodles of kit products to be used!

I could easily create another 2-3 layouts with what I have not yet used so at $35.95, this kit is a fantastic value!

Thanks so very much for stopping by!

May Scrap Shotz Kit: Altenew Live Your Dream

Hello Scrap Shotz Friends!

Rosie here and thrilled to be working with a brand new paper line. This is the second month in a row Scrap Shotz is featuring a hot off the presses line and it's the Altenew Live Your Dream collection. You'll receive all 8 double sided papers, 8 matching card stock, matching chipboard ephemera, half pack of epoxy wood buttons, brand new Thickers, a couple of charms and an exclusive cut file designed just for this kit by Just Nick Studio. We've cut the file for you as well so you'll receive the die cut with your kit.

I was so excited to dive in to this kit I forgot to take photos of it, but you'll see by my projects it's bold and bright and super fun to work with.

{Sunset Memories: SSZ May kit; Kit Add On 04 (puffy letters); Studio Katia black crystals (from my stash)}

Yes the paper does come exactly as you see it above! I chose photos that had some of the colours in the paper and then laid them out over the colours they were closest to.

I inked the exclusive kit die cut with Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Oxide ink, let dry, then misted with Altenew Iridescent Ink Spray. I then cut apart the blooms and leaves and arranged in opposite corners of the photo layout.

The large leaf to the left of journal spot is from the May Add On 03-Live Your Dream Clear Sticker.

Here's a close up of the bottom right die cut arrangement.

This next layout is based on the May Creative Scrapbooker Magazine sketch:

One of the best things about a paper line is how it all coordinates together, I fussy cut the large bloom in the top right from one of the kit papers and it worked great with this abstract blocks watercolour paper. I applied Gina K White Glitz Glitter Gel through the Altenew Feathered leaves stencil to add some sparkle.

Here's a closer look at the stencilled portion and I've echoed the circular sketch elements with kit epoxy wood buttons.

The kit Thickers coordinate perfectly with the Altenew papers.

'Live Your Dream' worked perfectly for this layout:

My teenage daughter is over the moon for BTS, the biggest kPop and boyband on the planet. We were fortunate to see them in concert in Hamilton last year and figured there was no way we'd be able to get tickets for the stadium tour kicking off in Pasadena, CA.

As soon as I saw this kit I knew it would be perfect for the concert photos and this layout is from Day 1 of the Rose Bowl stop.

I applied water with a large brush to the top portion of Vicki Boutin Mixed Media paper and then dropped ink from Altenew water-colour brush markers to create this ink blended portion. I tore a portion from the watercolour-ish paper and layered the pieces with foam adhesive to create a frame around the inked portion.

I hand cut the banners and layered under the torn edges, the BTS is die cut from glitter card stock with the Altenew Bold Caps Alpha dies. The add on puffy sticker letters complete the title and kit chipboard and ephemera finish off the layout.

Thanks for taking it all in and I'll be back with the rest of my projects very soon!

Prima Golden Coast Layout

Hello everyone! Carolyn back again to show you a layout with the new Prima "Golden Coast" collection. It is full of summer, beachy themes with pinks, yellows and a touch of light blue. It also has some really cool embellishments, so keep on reading!
I chose these pictures because the colours match the collection really well. My daughter also has sunglasses that match the sunglasses trinket that I just had to use. Here's how I put it together.

1. Begin with the background paper "California Dreaming". I used some dollar store Copenhagen Blue paint mixed with water and spread on plastic packaging. I smooshed it around the paper and then added some spatters.

2. Next, I tore some Bazzill "Blossom" cardstock for the strip down the middle. I actually tore it a few times until I got the size and shape I wanted. I tore two more strips for beside the photos.

3. I tore the outside of the "Up in the Air" paper and tucked it under the cardstock. I tucked another two strips under my photos.

4. I used the Best Creations Glitter Cardstock "Opal White" to make my title. I chose a fun font and cut it with my Silhouette Cameo. Make sure to set the machine to cut thick paper! It's hard to tell from the photo but the title shimmers.

5. Finally, I added all the pretty embellishments. The flowers at the bottom, the flamingo and the two words on the pictures are from the Ephemera pack. The light pink flowers are from the Prima Blissful flowers pack. The bright pink flowers are from Studio Katia "Spring Garden" mix. The hearts are from the Chipboard sheets. And last but not least, those sunglasses are from the Trinkets. I took the metal ring off and used some glue dots to adhere it to the page.
6. Of course, I can't leave a layout without some journaling and blue thread tucked in the corners.

Thanks so much for taking a look at my layout. I hope you get to play with this collection, especially if you like mixed media and soft, pretty colours!

Prima Golden Coast Layout with the CSM Sketch

Hello! Carolyn here with my layout using the May Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Sketch and the Prima Golden Coast Collection. This collection is so pretty - yellow, pink and blue! It has a beach theme so I pulled out my beach pictures and selected this one of my daughter and her cousin building their annual sand castle.
Here is the sketch:
No photo description available.
The top and bottom corner sections were already printed on the background paper. I used the Golden Heart paper.
I used the Up in the Air paper to frame my picture and I cut around the hot air balloon so it would layer on top. That beige rectangle made such a nice frame for my picture! And it is made with gold foil. I also tucked the bottom of this page onto the bottom of my layout to fill the space represented by the large square on the sketch.
I also found a tag in the ephemera pack that had the same gold border so I used it as my journaling spot. I just flipped over another tag and used the white side for the writing. I cut around the seahorse and the flowers so they could lie over the journaling card.

I cut the title on my Silhouette from some cardstock and used the Dear Lizzy Thickers from a previous month's kit. I also layered the Bazzill Blossom cardstock under the photo and journaling card by tearing it. I put some foam behind the photo to make it pop off the page. I also used some Best Creations Glitter Cardstock to frame the picture.

The rest of the layout is using the Studio Katia Spring Garden sequins, thread, ephemera, chipboard, Blissful flowers and the shell Trinket! Here's a photo of them - they are awesome!

Thanks for stopping by! I can't wait to see what everyone makes with this collection.
