Back To School Teacher Card

Hello! It's Karla back today to share a cute teacher card for back to school. We have had a fabulous summer vacation, but I think we are all just a bit excited about heading back for another year and getting back to a routine. My girls of course want to bring cards for their new teachers, so I grabbed a few different stamp and die sets and combined them for a cute card with a fun mixed media background.

I started off by colouring in the Hello Bluebird Just Sayin' animals with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. They blended nicely on Bristol Cardstock stamped in Gina K Amalgam Ink. This is truly my favourite stamping ink! It can be used with Copics or watercolours like the Zig Markers.

I added the 'yay' and 'hello' sentiments from the Hello Bluebird set along with 'god bless you' from the Mama Elephant Mini Everyday Messages stamp set in the little signs the cute critters are holding. The 'Many Thanks' sentiment came from the Lawn Fawn So Owlsome stamp set. I just love how fun this card was by combining the stamps I had in my stash!

The background piece was something from my craft drawer from a day I'd been playing with some watercolour mediums and my craft mat. It worked perfectly to layer being a stitched window diecut as a base for this fun, bright card.

Inside, I used a sentiment from another school stamp from Studio Katia and coloured in the tiny ruler.

The crayons were just perfect for this card, and came in the Hello Bluebird stamp set along with the little scissors. I added Glossy Accents to the crayons and used some white gel pen to add highlights. And, of course, all teachers love gold stars, so I found three to add just a bit of bling!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope this has given you some inspiration to pull out different stamp sets and see how fun they can work together. Don't forget to check what's new in the Scrap Shotz Store, and have a very happy, very crafty week!

Faux Layered Background Die Card

Hi All,

Rosie here sharing a card using the Mama Elephant Circular Grid die

This Mama Elephant die cuts 12 circles, it works great with all the cute Little Agenda stamps Mama Elephant makes. After watching this Jennifer McGuire video I was inspired to create a layered background.

I decided to create a rainbow coloured background:

I cut panels from white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet card stock from my stash.

I started by layering the red panel behind the white panel, slightly offsetting it to one side so you can see a slice of red from the front.

I used liquid adhesive for the layers since it takes a little bit of time to dry so I could adjust the layer until it was right where I wanted it.

I continued adding the layers, in rainbow colour order, alternating from left side to right side. I used the white die cut as the guide for trimming the offset layers.

Once I finished adding all the layers I adhered the entire panel to a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" white note card. I die cut "happy" with a die from my stash in black card stock and white heat embossed "birthday" from the Mama Elephant Happy Everything stamp set.

I finished it off with a coating of Nuvo Crystal Glaze over the happy die cut.

I love how this turned out, so much fun to make!

Live Simply Waterfall Card with Video

Hello! Karla back today with a fun, easy waterfall card using the Photoplay Waterfall Card Kit and the Simple Stories Spring Farmhouse Collection. Just by using the bases included in the kit, which comes with all the elements to make 3 cards, you can easily create an interactive card that looks extremely intricate!

I layered paper from the Simple Stories 6x8 Paper Pad and shaded the cardstock with Distress Oxide Inks in coordinating colours.

The Simple Stories Sticker packs are filled with tons of stickers including images, words, phrases! They are perfect for scrapbooking, planners and cardmaking - and worked wonderfully on the 2x2 images cut from the 2x2 Elements Cut Apart Sheet.

You'll totally be addicted once you pull the tab to flip the waterfall!

I used the Mama Elephant Mini Messages Stamp Set to add a sentiment inside and the Pull sentiment on the bottom of the pull tab.

I'm so excited to try another one of these cards! It is great for using up scraps from your stash or busting out a new collection. And, just think how much fun whomever you give it to is going to have! 😉

Here's a look at the video where I put it all together -

Die Cut Cards

Hello!
Rosie here with a few cards for your viewing pleasure😊 using some fun dies available in the store.

Can I be honest? I wasn't going to invest in the Lawn Fawn Magic Picture Changer Die but after making a couple of sample cards I was hooked; for the card above I used the Lawn Fawn Birthday Before and Afters set. I stamped the images on Copic friendly card stock and coloured with Copic Markers.
I can't wait to use this die with some of the new Lawn Fawn release which you can preorder right HERE

There are a number of great dies in the store and I finally had a bit of time to create some cards with them. First up is a card featuring the Tim Holtz Destination Die:

The card front is created by ink blending Distress Oxide inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet and Blueprint Sketch. I then adhered Die Cut'N Bond double sided adhesive to black card stock and cut the Destination (globe) die cut. The die cuts all the pieces out as you can see in this photo:
I left a few of the die cut pieces in place as you can see below:

The sentiment is from Mama Elephant Friendship Sentiments, stamped in Versafine Black Onyx ink, heat embossed with Ranger Clear Embossing powder on vellum. The top and bottom are framed with a sliver of Best Creations glitter card stock. The sentiment is adhered with liquid glue over the die cut.

These next two cards showcase the versatility of the Tim Holtz-Thinlits Dies Retro Repeat, the set has 4 different dies that can be used to create a border or a repeating die cut across a card front. It also happens to be on sale right now at close to 50% off so it's a great value for 4 dies!

Here you can see how the die easily lines up with the previous cut to carry across the card front inked with Distress Oxide inks.

The die cut front is then layered over dark silver glitter card stock, sentiment from the Mama Elephant Friendship Sentiments set and sparkle courtesy of Studio Katia gems.

Here we have a completely different look as the silver glitter card stock is die cut with the "star" thinlet and then layered over an alcohol pearl ink background with foam adhesive.

The sentiment is die cut with the Altenew Fancy Hello die from the same alcohol pearl ink background.

I hope you've enjoyed a quick look at some of the metal dies available in the store, thanks for stopping in to take a look!
