Product Showcase: Simple Stories Cabin Fever

Do you have Cabin Fever? With the cold snaps that we have had, I must confess to having Cabin Fever so it is rather apropos that I am working with Simple Stories Cabin Fever.

Interactive cards have always fascinated me. The series of simple folds that morph into movement is exciting.  Below are a few interactive cards made with the Simple Stories Cabin Fever paper packet.

First up is a pivot card. It folds down nicely and mails beautifully. Here is ready to be mailed.

And here the card is shown with the pivot so it can stand on a mantle :-)  I have photographed this on an angle so you can see the pivot.

And then opened for display...you can easily tuck in a gift card for the lucky recipient - in fact, it is a perfect fit!

The next set of cards was inspired by the new Lawn Fawn pivot pop-up die. Here is the front card, neatly folded and ready for mailing.

And here is the opened 4-paneled folded card - it actually twists when you open and close the card.

 Well, I can't make just one card....especially these because they are so darn fun! Here is the front....

Here is the opened card....this card also fits a gift card very easily and holds the 2x3 polaroids too!

Valentines and Wood Grains

Happy Wednesday everyone! And yes you read that title right. Hearts and wood grains do go together! Hope you have your coffee ready so you can sit back and relax because I have a few projects for you today! A tag, some Valentines and a pendant!

I am going to start with the tag that I used the Modascrap Wood Effect paper on first. Love the weathered, aged look of this paper and the different colours too.

I also used some of the new Distress Oxides in Bundled Sage and Gathered Twigs, all the new colours are in the store now! I used the Gathered Twigs to stamps the border and sentiment from the Wendy Vecchi set onto the Modascrap Wood Effect paper.

I layered the coloured wood effect paper over a large tag, and used Black Soot to edge the whole thing. I then took a piece of cardboard and ripped some of it off to show the insides and then used the Distress Oxides on that piece as well, again edged in Black Soot. In my stash I has some denim pieces from a TH package, so I inked that too. This one was a bit messy I loved it. I used the TH Scroll die and the wood effect paper to add another layer to my tag. I also did a quick pass on the edges of my sentiment piece with my scissors ( I don't have the fancy tool for that one) and edged in Black Soot.

 

Just a different angle of the bottom of the tag where you can see the paper I used with all the colours in it.

And in this one you can see the inked denim piece layered behind.This piece a attached flat because it was adhesive backed, everything else I used pop dots.

The finished tag! Isn't the coloured weathered wood paper fantastic?

I love the Hello Sweetheart Collection from Carta Bella. So great to make some quick Valentines for boys or girls. I don't even really do Valentine's Day but I have a few more ideas so I just might have to find some folks to send them too! :)

All the top cards are parts of the cut apart page in the kit, I layered them on the Modascrap Wood Effect papers and added some of the pretty Pink Flambe Nuvo Mousse for some shimmer.

Just love the shimmer from the Nuvo Mousse and with all the small stickers in the collection I was able to create my own little border to add some colour to a black and white card.

And three Valentine cards completed.

Thanks for hanging in there everyone!! I promise this is the last one! I super quick and cute pendant using a small 1 inch punched out circle from the Hello Sweetheart paper and a couple of the stickers from the set. For the pendant I used a bottle cap embellishment I had in my stash.

I ran the bottle cap through my Big Shot to flatten it, used my old beat up cutting pads, not my new purple glitter ones! I then used my anywhere punch and hammer and popped a small hole in the edge of the cap for the jump ring. I placed the cut out circle and stickers in the pendant and I used Glossy Accents to fill it (one day I'm going to use resin). Just make sure there are no air bubbles, pop with a pin if you need too and let it set over night.

Love the small sizes in the sticker set that could be used to do a couple of little pendants like this.

January Kit Release - Kaisercraft Documented Projects with Katelyn

Hey Scrap Shotz Fans!

Today, I'm back and sharing with you three more projects that I created using the fabulous January Kit which features Kaisercraft's "Documented" Collection. This line is filled with awesome masculine papers perfect for manly projects as well as vintage projects. 

To kick off my three projects, I created this masculine project using one of the Mini Clipboard from Tim Holtz's Idea-ology Line, some of the Kaisercraft Documented paper and Collectables as well as chipboard gears. Read below as I share with you how to recreate my altered mini clipboard at home.

To start, remove the hardware at the top of the clipboard. Choose three pieces of patterned paper from the Documented paper pack. 

You'll need to cut the following papers:

- Patterned Paper #1: 4 3/8" x 6 7/8"

- Patterned Paper #2: 4 1/8" x 6 5/8"

- Patterned Paper #3: 3 7/8" x 6 3/8"

Once the pieces of paper have been cut, round all four corners on each patterned paper piece. Distress the edges of each patterned paper and ink the edges using Bark Ink and a blending tool with foam. After the edges have been inked, Adhere the 4 3/8" patterned paper piece to the clipboard. Adhere the 4 1/8" patterned paper piece to the 4 3/8" patterned paper piece. Adhere the 3 7/8" patterned paper to the 4 1/8" patterned paper piece. Punch two holes at the top of the clipboard. Re-install the hardware at the top of the clipboard.

Place the words stencil on the right hand side of the clipboard. Start dabbing Emboss It Ink through the stencil, inking as much of the stencil as desired. Lift the stencil up and sprinkle Dirty Sand Embossing Powder over top of the stencil area. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with your heat tool.

From the ruler paper, cut two rulers out. Once ruler will measure 4" long and the other ruler will measure 3 3/4" long. Adhere the 4" ruler 2" from the bottom of the clipboard. Adhere the 3 3/4" ruler 1 3/4" from the bottom of the clipboard. Adhere a couple of collectables on the top right hand side of the clipboard.

In the bottom right hand portion of the clipboard, adhere four different collectable images.

Pick out a Found Relative and cut the card down to 2 5/8" x 5". Distress the edges of the card and ink the edges using Bark Ink and a blending tool with foam. Use foam squares to adhere the Found Relative 5/8" from the right of the clipboard.

From one of the strips at the bottom of the patterned papers, choose one of the sayings and cut it apart. Distress the edges of the sentiment strips and ink the edges using Bark Ink and a blending tool with foam. Adhere the sentiment to the left of the Found Relative.

Next you'll need four gears from the add on kit. Apply Emboss It Ink to each gear. Sprinkle Rocky Road Embossing Powder overtop of each gear. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with your heat tool.

Adhere one of the gears in the bottom right hand corner of the Found Relative Card. Adhere the other three gears in the top left hand corner of the Found Relative Card.

For the second project out of the three, I created this fun quick and easy "Wander without Reason" card. 

To the left of the sentiment, I layered a couple of the rulers from the ruler paper. One ruler measures 3 1/4" long and the second ruler measures 3 1/2" long. The third ruler is from the collectables package. 

To finish off the card, in the bottom right hand corner, I layered five different elements from the collectables. 

For the last project using the January Kit, I created this masculine "Make Every Day Your Best Day" card. 

To add some extra interest and patterned to the ledger paper, I placed the Words stencil on the left hand side of the paper. With the stencil down, blend Bark Ink through the stencil on desired sections. Lift off the stencil. 

I stamped the ruler and the Make Every Day Your Best Day sentiment onto a ledger piece from the collectables packaged. Most of the elements on the card came from the collectables package. I layered in rulers from the ruler paper. The gears are embossed using Rocky Road Embossing Powder and then adhere using liquid glue. 

To finish off the ledger paper, I rolled the top right corner down and bottom left corner up.

January Kit Release - Kaisercraft Documented Projects with Katelyn

Hey Scrap Shotz Fans!

I get to share with you a project that features the January Kit Release. This month kit is filled with fabulous goodies including Kaisercraft's "Documented" collection which is perfect for a variety of projects including masculine themed projects. You can find the kit as well as some add on pieces at Scrap Shotz's. 

To kick off my post, here is my We Must Have Adventures In Order To Know Where We Truly Belong Scrapbook Layout which features the Documented Patterned Paper, the Documented Collectable and some trimmings. 

For my layout, I've used Creative Scrapbooker Magazine's January Sketch.

This is my take on this month's sketch.

In the bottom right hand corner of my layout, I layered five different die cuts from the Collectables pack. I made sure to ink the edges with the Bark Ink pad from Kaisercraft. To add some extra depth, use 3D Foam Squares on some of the pieces.

At the bottom of each of the patterned paper pieces, they come with these fantastic decorated strips where the barcode is. I cut to of these strips off the bottoms of the papers. One strip is 8 3/4" long and the other strip is 5" long. To bridge a bit of a gap between the two strips, I cut a piece of ribbon that measures 5 1/2" long from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Trimmings. Adhere a clock from the Collectables package in the corner where each photo meets. I made sure to ink the edges of the strips with the Bark Ink pad from Kaisercraft.

In the top left hand corner, I layered a few more of the collectable pieces. For the tittle on my layout, I used one of the strips at the bottom of the patterned paper and cut the saying apart. Make sure to ink your edges of the paper. 

For the circles, I used the Stitched Circle dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. The 5" stitched circle is cut out of patterned paper from the Documented Patterned Paper pack. For the stitched circle ring, I placed the 4 1/2" stitched circle onto a piece of the Documented patterned paper and ran it through my die cutting machine. With the 4 1/2" stitched circle cut, place the 4" stitched circle in the center of the 4 1/2" stitched circle and run through your die cutting machine. Make sure to ink the edges using the Bark Ink Pad from Kaisercraft. 

When I went to adhere the layout together, I adhere my tittle last.
